Abstract

The invention relates to a device for unwinding metal packing wire from a vertical supply roller which at its upper end supports an unreeling crown. This sits on the same post 34 as the roller. At the upper end of the post there is a locking device having tilt-in and tilt-out locking arms 48,50, which in tilted-out position prevent the crown being inadvertently pulled from the post if the wire jams in the crown. <IMAGE>
