Abstract

The roll with adjustable camber has a central axle (1) and a shell mounted to rotate around the latter, forming between them a pressure chamber (6) into which pressure medium can be passed to compensate or adjust the camber of the roll. The arrangement has two annular surfaces which rest against one another and slide relative to one another and prevent leakage of pressure medium from the pressure chamber (6) at the end of the said chamber. To create a reliable seal, the surfaces resting and sliding on one another consist of radial planar surfaces (13, 17) produced from an inflexible material. The surfaces (13, 17) are arranged so as to rest on one another in the axial direction. One surface (17) is furthermore wider in the radial direction than the other surface (13). <IMAGE>
