Abstract

A vertical adjustment device for the upper fastening fitting or deflection fitting of a safety belt system, especially in motor vehicles, composed of a bolt device which is to be mounted on a vehicle body component and has a guide rail in which a slide, which acts as a support for the fitting, is longitudinally displaceable and can be fixed by catching at intervals in assigned locking positions of the guide rail by means of a bolt which is mounted in the slide, is to be set up to permit continuous adjustment of the fitting even when the safety belt is in use. To achieve this, provision is made for the bolt (14), when in the unloaded condition, to be held in the unlocked position and, to permit continuous adjustment of the fitting (12), to be coupled to a transmission element (21) in such a way that when the vertical adjustment device is loaded, the length of belt which engages on the fitting (12) forcibly pivots the bolt (14) into its locking position via a relative displacement of the slide (11) with respect to the transmission element (21). <IMAGE>
