Abstract

In mobile telephone systems it is possible to increase locally the number of available frequencies in base stations within a certain area when the base stations are equipped with a number of separate tuneable resonance modules. In order to carry out the increase by remote control, each base station is equipped with more resonance modules than the number which corresponds to the number of necessary frequencies for normal or low telephone traffic for the base station. When the number of frequencies for a particular base station needs to be increased on account of increasing local traffic intensity, idle resonance modules are tuned to frequencies which are not required by another base station or other base stations for the period of time which is covered by the time of the increased intensity for the base station concerned. The tuning is carried out by the resonance modules concerned 1 each being sent a signal 5 with a certain frequency which can control the setting of the respective resonance module so that its natural frequency becomes the same as the frequency of the incoming signal. <IMAGE>
