Abstract
At least two support structures (6, 7) hold the control rod (3) at a predetermined height above the reference plane (2), and the control gap is formed between a contour line in the rod and reference plane extending parallel to the reference plane and above it. The support structures have a number of surfaces located at differing distances from the contour line. The control rod together with the support structures forms a loose unit in relation to the reference plane, enabling the rod to be placed on the plane with the two support surfaces valid for the width of the control gap locating on the plane. The object to be measured is electrically conductive, as are the reference plane and the control rod. The support structures (6, 7) electrically insulate the control rod from the reference plane, both plane and rod forming part of an electrical circuit together with a power source and an indicator (22). This circuit is closed by the positioning of the measurement object on the reference plane beneath the control rod between the support structures, and when it makes contact with the rod.
