Abstract
In this device comprising an electrical converter used for altering the working voltage, the thermoelectric device consists of n and p type semiconductors connected electrically in series and connected thermally in parallel, while the converter consists essentially of a transformer and of a section forming a rectifier and comprising a smoothing device, the converter components, of known constitution, are designed for a DC current which is constant but significantly greater than the current obtained for the voltage from the thermoelectric device, preferably a current that is greater by a factor of between 2 and 10, and the cross-section of the semiconductors in the thermoelectric device is determined by the converter current and the number of semiconductors is determined by the required cooling power. Application especially to cooling systems for vehicle batteries.
