Abstract

Method for removal of asbestos fibres from buildings and equipment by penetrating the fibre compound with at least one syringe and injecting a fluid such as water containing 30-50% preferably 40% of a wetting agent, until saturation is reached. The compound together with its reinforcement and wrapping is then cut open, preferably under continuous sprinkling, and escaping air and fluids are collected and led to a water filter where the asbestos fibres are separated. The softened compound is removed and placed in sealable containers. Excess water is drained off and filtered, and the compound is kept damp so that no asbestos fibres escape during the subsequent handling, i.e. destruction. In case of unwrapped asbestos compound, a liquid coating is applied prior to the injection of fluid. The coating then hardens and covers the compound.
