Abstract

To measure very low flow rates fluid is stored and passed periodically through a flow meter (4). A storage chamber (9) of variable volume includes a movable wall (11) and closes a stop valve (10) when in position (A) and opens it when in position (B). The wall (11) also moves a throttling valve (23) whereby stored fluid is discharged relatively slowly to reduce effects of starting and stopping the meter. However when higher flows occur the wall moves to position (C) and moves the throttle valve (23) from the flow path. The throttle and stop valves may be combined. <IMAGE>
