Abstract

A chipper of the mobile type which is suspended from a tractor or a similar vehicle and is preferably driven therefrom through a power take-off, which chipper has infeed means (20, 22) and a rotary cutter disc (16) with cutter knives. The cutter disc (16) is disposed with its rotational shaft (17) strongly inclined with respect to the horizontal, preferably about 45<o>, and the infeed means (20, 22) are adapted to feed the wood longitudinally thereof against the side of the cutter disc (16) which is facing upwardly, and on the side of the rotational shaft where the cutter knives (18) are moving upwardly, whereas the counter knife (19) which is adapted to cooperate with the cutter knives (18) is disposed in close proximity to the upper surface of the cutter disc (16).
