Abstract

The coupling socket (1) forms a watertight joint on the end of a pipe (2) and has a first cylindrical section (7) for precise axial alignment with the parallel pipe end. The socket also has a second cylindrical section (10) coaxial to the first. The second section has annular ridges (11,12,13) of the same dia. in planes at right angles to the cylinder axis. This dia. is smaller than that of the pipe end. The coupling prevents the pipe end being inclined to the cylinder bore.
