Abstract

The tool is for producing a spiral rip track in the outer casing of a cable, permitting the casing to be removed. The tool comprises a counterpiece which accommodates the cable and has a holder device attached to it. In the holder a unit (5) with a cutting edge can move to and from the cable, and incorporates a stop (7A) which prevents its movement towards the cable beyond a specific distance. The cutting edge (4) is fitted adjustably relative to the holder device (3). The movable unit (5) has threads (8) which work in conjunction with those (9) in the holder. The relative movement between movable unit and holder produces the required displacement of the cutting edge (4). The cutting edge (4) is fitted to the end of a pin (10) which is rotatable relatively to the movable unit (5), and a body (14) with a hole (13) to take the pin (10) is limitedly rotatable relatively to the holder (3) from at least one starting position.
