Abstract

The invention relates to the treatment of the sludges from domestic and municipal waste waters, the waste waters (effluents) of pulp and paper combines, of meat and milk production, of the food industry etc. The process is measuring the colloidal loading of the treated sludge, treatment thereof with a metal salt in an amount which gives a colloidal loading in the range from -3 to +3 mg.eq/l, heating the sludge to a temperature of 65 to 85 DEG C, repeated measurement of the colloidal loading and subsequent sludge treatment with an organic flocculant. In this case, at a colloidal loading of sludge, after heating thereof, of -3 to -0.1 mg.eq/l, a cationic flocculent is used, at a colloidal loading of -0.1 to +0.1 mg.eq/l a nonionic flocculent is used and at a colloidal loading of +0.1 to +3 mg.eq/l, an anionic flocculent is used.
