Abstract

The tread profile consists of profile blocks (10, 11) which are arranged in three or four circumferential rows arranged axially one next to the other. Each block (10, 11) is obliquely oriented and has a stepped inner and outer edge (12, 14). The ends are connected to one another by means of a prism-shaped central area (13, 15). The grooves in the circumferential direction and transverse or oblique direction form constrictions and widenings which are repeated regularly and are determined by the stepped block shape. This profile is provided for winter tyres with a high degree of absorption and running-off capacity in snow and sludge and with good steering stability. <IMAGE>
