Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for damping the acoustic pressure during firing of missiles (2), which are rocket-propelled or ramjet-propelled in their trajectory, when these are launched from their missile tube (1) by a starter motor (3) of the gas generator type which is secured in the missile tube (1). According to the invention, the acoustic pressure is damped by the effect which arises when propellant gases from the starter motor (3) shatter one or more liquid-filled containers (4) arranged in the gas exhaust opening of the missile tube.

Description

504 130 I.) However, the rear-blow weapons do not allow the launching of larger-caliber projectiles, as this would put too much pressure on the shooter behind the weapon.

Swedish patent 428604 (81062127) describes a method of reducing the pressure in the area immediately behind the rear mouth of the weapon in such rear-blow weapons by means of a liquid container arranged near this mouth which bursts during firing, the liquid being shockingly mixed with the gunpowder gases. What is proposed in this patent specification thus concerns a way of reducing the pressure around the muzzle of the weapon. Irrespective of this proposal for improvement, however, the problem remains that the pure blower weapons cannot be given coarser calibers and large firing ranges.

However, one way of increasing the backward momentum during the firing of the weapon when firing the weapon and thereby enabling an increase in the projectile's weight and / or speed without getting too high a pressure behind the weapon is to arrange a so-called counter mass behind the projectile. The countercass must then be arranged to rush backwards out of the barrel when the projectile is fired. In order not to pose a threat to the shooter in itself, the counter-mass must be selected so that it evaporates or is pulverized into harmless dust behind the weapon.

In order to achieve a good quenching of the backscattering gunpowder gases, liquids such as saline solutions have already been proposed as a countermeasure.

However, it has been shown that the use of only one liquid as a counter-mass in the counter-mass weapons in question has at least sometimes resulted in a premature extinction of the gunpowder gases.

Swedish patent 8205956-9, however, describes how such too rapid extinction of the powder gases can be prevented by dividing the countermass into two different components, one of which previously consists of a liquid and the other consists of a particulate material. with preferably greater density than the liquid mass.

It is thus previously known to use a liquid mass as a damping medium in a blow-off weapon and it is also known per se that a liquid mass, for example in the form of a saline solution, can contribute to the extinction of the gunpowder gases in the same type of weapon. 3 504 130 However, we have now found that it is also possible to achieve clear advantages with similar arrangements in connection with such gas generators which are used as starter motors for rocket-powered robots fired from launch tubes in orbit. In this context, there is thus no need for a damping mass effect, but we have been able to state that an arrangement with liquid-filled containers arranged in the rear exhaust opening of the robot tube contributes to significantly lowering the sound pressure during firing while lowering the shock amplitude pressure. gunpowder gases that must be post-burned outside the robot pipe are reduced.

The invention has been defined in the following patents, now somewhat further described in connection with the accompanying general figure which shows a longitudinal section through a robot launch tube.

Referenssiffran 5 markerar ett ringformigt fästorgan för fasthållning av vätskebehållaren 4.In the robot tube 1, a robot 2 is arranged ready for start. The robot 2 has its own rocket drive motor, not shown in the figure, intended to be started as soon as the robot has reached a predetermined point in front of the mouth of the launch tube. In the ejection tube in the intended ejection direction for the rear end of the robot, a starter motor 3 in the form of a gas generator is fixedly arranged. Around the starter motor 3 there is an annular gas outlet for the gunpowder gases that will act behind. In this outlet, the liquid set characteristic of the invention is also applied in the form of an annular or liquid-filled container of plastic or other material arranged in an annular manner which splits when the starter motor is switched on, the liquid being distributed in the space behind the starter tube. Reference numeral 5 denotes an annular fastener for holding the liquid container 4.

This is namely intended to constitute an extra accessory which, if necessary, for example when you have to shoot from a cramped space, can be mounted on the robot tube.

The front mouth of the robot tube 1 is covered by a protective cap 6 which is thrown away when the robot begins to move through the launch tube.
