Abstract
Description
15 20 25 30 35 L- "1 (J LM 2 which operates at microwave frequency, and a passive transponder placed on the vehicle in a position predetermined relative to the refueling pipe.
Swedish patent no. 9202549-3 also describes a device for automatic refueling, in which an adapter to be fitted to a vehicle's refueling pipe is described. This adapter has a cone-shaped portion which is intended to cooperate with said first tube but also with the free end of said second tube when the second tube is lowered through the adapter to the refueling tube.
Since virtually the mouth of almost all vehicle refueling tubes forms an angle to the vertical plane, it is required that the conical portion leans less towards the vertical plane and preferably lies in the vertical plane as the robot's first and second tubes are moved horizontally towards the vehicle when docking between the robot and the vehicle.
Thus, since an adapter is in virtually all cases designed so that its upper orifice, at which it is attached to the orifice of the refueling tube, forms a different angle than its upper orifice, at which docking takes place, it is essential that the adapter is positioned correctly .
The present invention thus relates to an adapter for automatic refueling of vehicles, mainly cars, where a robot is present comprising a robot head which is movable relative to the robot so that by means of a positioning system it can be positioned to a predetermined position relative to the vehicle's tank pipe and docked with said adapter. which adapter is arranged to be attached to the upper mouth of the tank pipe and which adapter comprises a conical portion, and wherein the robot head comprises a pipe whose free front end after the docking is arranged to be extended to a position down in the tank pipe, after which fuel is filled through the pipe, and characterized by , that the adapter comprises a base part and a fitting funnel, which base part is arranged to be attached to the refueling pipe in cooperation with a fastening means present on the tank pipe, and which base part has an opening, of the fitting funnel protrudes from the base part, because the adjusting funnel is rotatable relative to the base part SEK the longitudinal axis of the base part, whereby the adapter can be positioned correctly in the direction of rotation on the refueling pipe.
The invention is described in more detail below, partly in connection with an exemplary embodiment of the invention shown in the accompanying drawings, in which - figure 1 shows a side sectional view of the front part of the robot head before final docking with an adapter attached to a tank pipe according to the prior art - figure Figure 2 shows an axial cross-section through an adapter according to the invention - Figure 3 shows what is shown in Figure 2 on a larger scale - Figure 4 shows the adapter according to Figure 2 seen from below - Figure 5 shows the adapter according to Figure 2 seen from above where an adjusting funnel is removed - Figure 6a - 6d shows different funnels.
The figure is taken from the Swedish patent no. 9202549-3. Figure 1 shows a side view of the front part of a robot head 1 in a position before final docking with an adapter 3 attached to the vehicle's tank pipe 2. The robot head belongs to a robot (not shown). The robot head 1 is movable relative to the robot in order to be able to be positioned to a predetermined position relative to the vehicle's tank tube 2, or more specifically relative to the adapter 3.
The positioning takes place by means of a positioning system comprising a first part present at the robot head and a second part placed at a predetermined place on the vehicle.
Preferably, the positioning system is of the type mentioned in the introduction, where the second part is a passive transponder which is mounted on the vehicle near, or on, the vehicle's refueling hatch. the positioning system is not relevant to the present invention.
The robot head comprises a refueling gun, which in turn comprises an outer tube 4 and one inside it and out of this displaceable inner tube 5. The outer tube 4 has in its free front end a portion 6 formed as a truncated cone, which portion is intended to be docked during said positioning with a corresponding conical portion 7, in the form of a truncated cone, belonging to said adapter 3 which is attached to the upper mouth of the tank pipe. The free front end 8 of the inner tube 5 after the docking is arranged to be extended to a position down in the tank tube, after which fuel is filled through the inner tube.
The outer tube 4 is resilient to such an extent that said docking can take place provided that the tip of the inner tube is positioned inside the base 10 of the cone-shaped part of the adapter. When docked, the conical surfaces 6, 7 of the robot head and the adapter abut each other.
När det inre röret 5 skjuts ut ur det yttre röret 4 och ned i tankröret 2, trycks locket mot en fjäderkraft nedåt i tankröret 2.Preferably, the adapter is provided with a lid 11 which is hinged about an axis 12. The lid is in figure 1 in its closed position. When the inner pipe 5 is pushed out of the outer pipe 4 and down into the tank pipe 2, the lid is pressed against a spring force downwards in the tank pipe 2.
According to the invention, the adapter comprises a base part 13 and an adapter funnel 14, see figure 3. The base part 13 is arranged to be threaded on the thread 15 of the filling pipe 2. Alternatively, the base part is attached to the tank pipe with a bayonet socket. The base part 13 has an opening 16. The adjusting funnel 14 projects from the base part 13 and comprises said conical portion.
The adjusting funnel 14 is rotatable relative to the base portion about the longitudinal axis 17 of the base portion 13, whereby the adapter can be positioned correctly in the direction of rotation on the refueling tube 2. By the correct direction of rotation is meant that the adjusting funnel has the rotational position where its outwardly facing opening 18 the smallest angle to the vertical plane. The correct rotation position can be marked on the adjusting funnel, for example with an arrow pointing straight up in the correct rotation position with associated suitable text. This makes it easy to turn the adapter correctly, regardless of the turning position it is in when it is screwed onto the tank pipe. This is dependent on the threads of different car tank pipes, even if the same thread pitch and thread are used on many car models.
In case the plane of the outer opening 18 of the adapter funnel and its opening 19 facing the base part form a large angle with each other, a rotational position where the outer opening 18 of the adapter funnel forms a maximum angle to the vertical plane will substantially complicate or make a docking with a robot head impossible. .
According to a very essential embodiment of the invention, the adapter funnel 14 can only be rotated relative to the base part 13 in the same direction as the base part is rotated when it is threaded on the threads of the tank pipe. This means that the adapter can be easily unscrewed from the tank pipe as a normal tank cap. It has been shown that not all manual fuel pump guns can be inserted into an adapter. Therefore, the adapter must be easily removable when refueling manually. In this way it is thus achieved that the adapter is easy to remove, and that it is easy to set the said correct rotational position after screwing on the tank pipe.
According to a preferred embodiment of the latter feature, there is in the upper part of the base part 13 a toothed ring 20 facing inwards the base part, see Figures 3 and 5, arranged to cooperate with a washer 21 provided with one or more radially directed and resilient hooks 23 - 26 which engage in said toothed ring 20. The adjusting funnel 14 is rotatably attached to the base part 13, but is in a rotationally engaged engagement with the washer 21. The teeth 27 and hooks 23 - 26 are so designed that the adjusting funnel 14 can only be rotated relative to the base part 13 in the same direction as the base part is rotated when it is threaded on the thread of the tank pipe 2.
The adapter funnel 14 is in a rotationally engaged engagement with the washer 21 in that the adapter funnel has two or more downwardly directed projections 28, only one of which is shown in the figures, which with its lower end 29 engages in outlets 30-32 in the washer 21.
Enligt en föredragen utföringsform är anpassningstratten 14 borttagbart anordnad på basdelen 13.According to a preferred embodiment, the adjusting funnel 14 is removably arranged on the base part 13.
According to another preferred embodiment, the base part 13 is in its position mounted on the tank pipe 2 completely below the mouth of the tank pipe, except that a radially projecting collar 34 is present immediately above the mouth of the tank pipe. This design is advantageous for two reasons. The first is that there will be a larger space between the mouth of the tank pipe and the tank hatch that is normally flush with the side of the car body than if the base part extends significantly above the mouth of the tank pipe. The second is that the vital part of the base part is well protected, as described below.
The fitting funnel 14 is preferably attached to the periphery of said collar by the lower part of the fitting funnel completely or partially enclosing a circumferential edge 33 of the base part.
Because the adapter funnel 14 is interchangeable, the base part can be made the same for all cars with a certain thread on the tank pipe.
A fitting funnel is then applied to a base part which has a suitable angle between the plane of its outer mouth 18 and the plane of its lower mouth 19 in relation to the car model in question.
The intention is that the outer opening plane of the adjusting funnel should form as small an angle as possible towards the vertical plane.
For reasons of space between the mouth of the tank pipe and the said tank hatch, it is not possible for some car models to provide an adaptation funnel where the plane of said opening coincides with the vertical plane.
Figures 6a - 6d show examples of adjusting hoppers 14, 35 - 37, with different angles between the planes of the openings 18, 19. Figure 6a shows an adjusting funnel 35 where the planes of the openings are parallel. This is thus intended for car models where the plane of the mouth of the tank tube coincides with, or forms a small angle to, the vertical plane.
I figur 3 visas locket i sitt undansvängda läge. According to a very preferred embodiment, the base part 13 is designed such that it is arranged to extend a distance down into the tank pipe and that a pivotable lid 38 known per se, which is pivoted away against the spring action of a spring 39 when a pipe from the robot is lowered through the adapter and to the tank pipe, is placed and articulated suspended by means of a shaft 40 in the portion of the base part which, when mounted on the tank pipe, is below the mouth of the tank pipe. Figure 3 shows the lid in its pivoted position. This design means that the lid 38, which in its non-pivoted position, where it abuts against a seat 41, seals the tank pipe to the surroundings, is mechanically well protected inside the relatively strong tank pipe. The tank pipe is generally made of metal or plastic. The fact that the cover 38 is well protected is important in collisions where it is desirable that fuel does not leak out.
The present invention thus solves the initially mentioned problem and offers a simple and safe device which allows great flexibility in terms of adaptation to different car models.
Of course, the detailed design and shaping of the adapter can be done in other ways than the embodiments given as examples above.
IThe present invention should therefore not be construed as limited to the above embodiments, but may be varied within the scope of the appended claims. IN
