Abstract

1,187,354. Dyeing polyester/cellulose mixtures. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 4 March, 1968 [3 March, 1967], No. 10361/68. Heading D1B. Mixtures of cellulose fibres and fibrous materials of linear polyesters are dyed in a single bath with a reactive dye and a dispersion dye by treating the mixture at 20‹C-80‹C in a dyebath containing alkali in addition to the above dyes followed by adjusting the pH to 3.5 to 6.0 by adding free acid and'completing the dyeing at 95‹C-140‹C. Reactive dyes which contain a vinylsulphone group or a group capable of forming such a group in alkaline media e.g. a sulphonic acid ester or a thiosulphonic acid ester of #-hydroxyethylsulphone are preferred especially those of the azo, anthraquinone and phthalocyanine types. Preferred disperse dyes are azo and anthraquinone dyes. Carriers e.g. o- and p-phenylphenol, and alkyl esters of benzoic and salicylic acids may be used.
