[Also in Division B4] A forceps adapted to hold elongate articles such as dental drills or test tubes comprises two elongate resilient arms 11, 12 hinged at one end 13, the .free end portions of each arm being formed as semi-cylindrical flutes 16, 16a, the axis of each flute being transverse to the length of the arm, each flute being extended laterally of the arm end portion as indicated at (17), Fig. 2 (not shown), the radius of one flute 16a being larger than that of the other 16. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the parts of the arms (30) including the free end portions are at an angle to the major portion (29) flutes (31), (32) being formed at the end portions the axes of which flutes lie along the length of the portions (30). In a further modification Fig. 5 (not shown), the flutes (25), (26) are arranged as in the first embodiment, the radius of the flute (25) being larger than that of the other (26). A,ring (22) is slidable over the outside, of the arms (18), (19) which are removably secured together at (23), a number of arms being provided with flutes of different radius. The arms of the forceps may be made thicker, the flutes being formed as recesses in the end portions of the arms. The inside surfaces of the flutes may be roughened.
