Abstract

1,209,829. Window pivots; resisting pivoting. E. HAMMEL and K. H. AUF DER BRUCKEN [trading as WILHELM WEIDTMANN]. 15 March, 1968 [15 March, 1967], No. 12792/ 68. Heading E2F. A mounting for a casement which is pivotable within a fixed frame 4 through 180‹ about a horizontal axis from a closed position into a cleaning position includes a frame mounting member 1 adapted to be secured to the fixed frame and defining a first pivot axis 2; a casement mounting member 7 (not shown in Fig. 1) adapted to be secured to the casement and defining a second pivot axis 8; an intermediate member 3 rotatable about the first axis; an arm 10 associated with and pivotable with respect to the second axis; and guide means 12a, 12b, 12c associated with the frame mounting member; the intermediate member, the arm and the guide means being constructed and disposed to constrain the movement of the casement with respect to the frame such that, in the course of rotation of the casement about the second axis towards the cleaning position, the casement is raised relative to the frame. The arm may be disposed between the intermediate member and the frame mounting member and can pivot directly about the second axis; it may also have a pin 11 arranged at the end away from the second axis; and it may be mounted on a pin arranged eccentrically on an end face of a pivot pin which is coaxial with the second rotation axis. The pin may bear directly against the frame mounting member, preferably by means of a pivot member 9 pivoted on the pin. The guide means may comprise a curved guide track on the frame mounting member, preferably having a first portion 12a curved concentrically around the first axis forming a positive guide means when the casement is pivoted about the first axis, a second portion 12b extending concentrically to the second axis and forming a continuation of the first portion, and a third portion 12c extending eccentrically to the second axis. The curved track may be formed by grooves in the frame mounting member. Check means 13, 14 provided to retard the pivot movement of the casement may be associated with the second axis and further check means may additionally be provided to retard the pivot movement of the intermediate member associated with the first rotation axis. A groove in the frame mounting member may be provided for a crank rod.
