Abstract
1,037,102. Screening apparatus; filtering liquids. WILKINSON RUBBER LINATEX Ltd. and H. J. EPHITHITE. Feb. 11, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 6878/63. Headings B1D and B2H. A screen for sizing or dewatering solids comprises strips 12 of rubber or rubber-like material which are spaced apart by resilient spacers 13 and supported at intervals across their length by rods 14 which pass through holes in both the strips and spacers, the arrangement being such that the strips can be subjected to lateral compression for reducing the size of the screen openings to compensate for wear. Compression of the strips is effected by the rods 14 which pass through frame members 16 and are screwthreaded at their ends to receive nuts 17, Fig. 6 (not shown). Several such screens may be placed side-by-side, and clamped by rubber-backed plates 23 in the bottom and end wall of an inclined vibratory screening apparatus, Figs. 1, 2 and 3 (not shown) which is supported on rubber blocks 1A and vibrated by motors 10, rubber jointing 22, 29 being provided between the screens and frame and between the screens themselves. The material to be screened is introduced at the lower end and caused to move up the incline by the vibratory action. The screens may be curved cylindrically or conically instead of being flat.
