Abstract
There is disclosed herein a battery cell (100) and a method (800) of maufacturing a battery cell (100). The battery cell (100) comprises an electrode assembly (107) and a current collector (109) extending along a first side (107a) of the electrode assembly (107), configured to connect the electrode assembly (107) to a terminal (104) of the battery cell (100). The battery cell (100) further comprises an insulating element (210) for electrically insulating the current collector (109) from a casing (102) of the battery cell (102), extending along the first side (107a) of the electrode assembly (107). The insulating element (210) is arranged between the electrode assembly (107) and the casing (102), and is configured to distribute an impact force applied to the electrode assembly (107) during a crush event along the first side (107a) of the electrode assembly (107).
