Description

A holder element and an arrangement for the suspension ofa waste pipe on the exterior of a building FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a holder element for temporary, releasable attachment to a building, said building being providedwith a beam arranged on a wall of the building and said beamhaving at least one generally horizontal bottom flange, whereinthe holder element comprises an elongated arm provided with anattachment member configured for suspension of a generallyhorizontally extending pipe.
The present invention also relates to an arrangement for thesuspension of a waste pipe on the exterior of a building, saidarrangement comprising a beam connected to a building andextending generally horizontally in its longitudinal direction, saidbeam having a bottom flange that extends in a generallyhorizontal plane.
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ART Buildings such as construction barracks are often provided with awaste pipe system which is adapted to be of temporary characterand that is attached to the exterior of the building and connectedto any suitable connection point of a commune sewage system.
Normally, such waste pipe systems comprise holder elements thatare attached to the exterior of the building. The holder elementscomprise attachment members for attachment of a waste pipethereto and thus provide for suspension of the waste pipe. Theholder elements are designed so at so to be attached to an outerwall of the building by means of nailing of screwing.
However, attachment principles such as screwing or nailing resultin the need of specific elements (spikes, screws) and specificelements (hammers, screw drivers) for the implementation ofsuch attachment and will also result in the formation of holes inthe wall. Such holes will enable moisture attack on the wallmaterial which may lead to premature degradation, especiallywhen the wall material is wood, which is often the case withconstructional barracks.
To remedy the disadvantages of such technique, prior art hassuggested solutions according to which the holder elements areprovided with an arm portion that is attached by means of ascrewing arrangement to a load-carrying constructional beam thatextends on the exterior of the constructional barrack. Suchsolution requires a screwing operation to be performed andpossibly also screwing equipment to be used for the screwing andunscrewing of the holder elements lt is an object of the present invention to present a holder elementthat remedies the above-mentioned disadvantages of prior art andthat provides for an uncomplicated attachment of the holderelement to a constructional beam arranged on the exterior of abuilding, typically a constructional barrack. lt is also an object of the invention to present an arrangement forthe suspension of a waste pipe on the exterior of a building, wherein said arrangement has a design that provides for anuncomplicated attachment of the holder element to aconstructional beam arranged on the exterior of a building, typically a constructional barrack. The arrangement shall be ofsuch design that damage on the building wall by attachmentelement such as nails and screws for the attachment of the holderelement to the building is avoided.
SUMMARY The object of the invention is achieved by means of the initiallydefined holder element, which is characterised in that: -at one end of said arm there is provided a heel, said hee|protruding from a first side of the arm, and that -a pocket configured to receive a first end of said bottom flangeof the beam is arranged on said first side of the arm, wherein thedistance between the hee| and the pocket is less than a width ofthe bottom flange of the beam that is to be received in saidpocket An end of a bottom flange can thus be introduced by insertion intosaid pocket by temporary misalignment of the holder elementrelative to the bottom flange of the beam. Once the flange of thebeam has been introduced into pocket, the pocket, or moreprecisely a flange that defines said pocket, will prevent the holderelement from moving in a vertical direction in relation to the beam, while the hee| prevents the holder element from moving in ahorizontal direction in relation to the beam. The design of theholder element is such that its centre of gravity is closer to thepocket than to the heel, and preferably on an opposite side of thepocket with regard the hee|. Such position of the centre of gravitywill provide for a vertically upwards acting force being applied bythe holder element onto the beam close to the heel, when theholder element is in its engaging operative position with regard tothe beam, and thus the retention of the holder element in place inrelation to beam without the interaction of any further attachmentelement. Said first side of the arm preferably forms an upper sideof the first arm when the holder element is in its engagingoperative position with regard to the beam. The first side of thearm preferably forms a generally flat support surface from thehee| to an inner end of the pocket, against which the bottomflange of the beam may bear.
According to one embodiment, the pocket is formed by a flangethat is attached in one end to said first side of the arm and thatextends in its longitudinal direction towards the hee| with a predetermined distance to the first side of the arm, therebydefining said pocket.
According to one embodiment, the arm comprises:-a first arm portion extending in its longitudinal direction in afirst direction, -a second arm portion connected with a first end thereof to a firstend of the first arm portion and extending in its longitudinaldirection in a second direction with an angle din relation to saidfirst direction, and -a third arm portion connected to a second end of the second armportion and extending in its longitudinal direction in a thirddirection with an angle ß to said second direction, wherein thethird arm portion carries the attachment member configured forsuspension of a generally horizontally extending pipe, wherein-the heel is provided on the first arm portion, said heel protrudingfrom a first side of the first arm portion, and wherein -the pocket configured to receive a first end of said bottom flangeof the beam is arranged on said first side of the first arm portion.
The above-defined arm portions of the holder element may beformed by separate elements joined to each other, for exampleby means of welding, screw joints et cetera. Alternatively two ormore of the arm portions are formed by a single piece of materialthat has been bent such that it presents the above-defined shape. The first, second and third arm portion need not be straight or beconnected through portions that form a definite angle in relationto each other at the connection point. For example, the third armportion may be formed by an extension of the second arm portionthat has been bent such that it extends in said third direction. Theliteral subdivision of the holder element in different arm portionsis thus primarily aimed to illustrate the overall design the holderelement.
According to one embodiment, the heel is arranged at a secondend of the first arm portion opposite to said first end of the firstarm portion.
According to one embodiment, the second arm portion extends insaid second direction from the first side of the first arm portion, and the first side of the first arm portion defines an upper side ofthe first arm portion when the holder element is attached to saidbottom flange of said beam.
According to one embodiment, 70° According to one embodiment, 70°<ß<100°. According to oneembodiment, 85°<ß<95°, and according to yet anotherembodiment ß=90°. The third arm portion preferably extend in agenerally horizontal direction when the holder element is in anengaging operative position with regard to a horizontallyextending beam provided with a bottom flange as definedhereinabove. The third arm portion extends away from the firstarm portion, in an opposite direction from the second arm portion,as compared to the first arm portion.
According to one embodiment, the attachment member isdisplaceable in said second direction in relation the third armportion, and there is provided locking means for locking theattachment member in different positions with regard to the thirdarm portion. Thereby, the height above ground and thereby theinclination angle of a waste pipe held by the attachment membercan be controlled by adjustment of the position of the attachmentmember in relation to the third arm portion.
According to one embodiment the third arm portion has a throughhole for receiving the attachment member, the attachment member extends through the third arm portion in said throughhole, wherein said locking means comprises an outer threadingon the attachment member and at least one locking nut whichengages the outer threading of the attachment member.
According to one embodiment, the centre of gravity of the holderelement is closer to the pocket than to the heel.
According to one embodiment, the centre of gravity of the holderelement is on an opposite side of the pocket with regard to theheel.
The object of the invention is also achieved by means of theinitially defined arrangement, which is characterised in that itcomprises a holder element as defined hereinabove or hereinafterand that the holder element is attached to the bottom flange ofthe beam, wherein the bottom flange, in one end thereof, extendsinto said pocket of the holder element.
According to one embodiment, the distance d between the heeland the pocket is less than a width w of the bottom flange of thebeam.
According to one embodiment, the bottom flange extends into thepocket a distance c which is at least 10% of a width w of thebottom flange.
According to one embodiment, the pocket has a height h, and thepart of the bottom flange which is received in the pocket has athickness t, wherein h<2t.
According to one embodiment, the arrangement is characterisedin that, when the holder element is in an engaging operativeposition with regard to the beam, its centre of gravity is closer tothe pocket than to the heel.

The arm of the holder element 1 is formed by a metal rod, preferably a rod of stainless steel. The rod has a rectangularcross-section, thereby defining a flat iron, and has been bent suchthat it defines said first arm portion 2, second arm portion 3 andthird arm portion 4.
A heel 6 is provided on the first arm portion 2. The heel 6protrudes from a first side of the first arm portion 2. The first sideof the first arm portion 2 is a side which will define an upper sideof the first arm portion 2 when the first arm portion 2 is attachedto a bottom flange of a beam in accordance with the teaching theinvention. The heel 6 protrudes from the first arm portion 2 in thesame direction as the second arm portion 3 extends from the firstarm portion. The heel 6 protrudes from a second end of the firstarm portion 2, which second end is opposite to the first end atwhich the second arm portion 3 is connected to and extends fromthe first arm portion 2.
A pocket 7 configured to receive a first end of a bottom flange ofa beam is also arranged on said first side of the first arm portion2. The pocket 7 is formed by a flange 8 attached in one end tosaid first side of the first arm portion 3 and extending in itslongitudinal direction towards the heel 6 with a predetermineddistance h to the first side of the first arm portion, thereby definingsaid pocket. Said distance h may also be referred to as the heightof the pocket. The flange 8 has a width corresponding to the widthof the first arm portion 2 on which it is arranged. The flange 8 ismade of metal, preferably the same metal as the first arm portion2, and is attached to the latter by a weld joint.
The third arm portion 4 has a through hole 9 for receiving theattachment member 5, and the attachment member 5 comprisesa pin 10 that extends through the third arm portion 4 in saidthrough hole 9, and a hook 11 attached to an end of the pin 10. Achain or the like for suspending a pipe may be attached to the hook 11 in order to suspend a pipe. The pin 10 comprises an outerthreading 12 and there is also provided locking nuts 13, 14 onopposite sides of the third arm portion 4, which nuts 13, 14engage the outer threading of the pin 10 and thereby provides forlocking of the attachment member 5 in different positions withregard to the third arm portion 4.
When the holder element 1 is in a position in which the first armportion 2 is generally horizontal and forms the bottom part of theholder element 1, the centre of gravity cg of the holder element 1is between the pocket 7 and the third arm portion 4.
Fig. 3 shows an arrangement according to the present inventionfor the suspension of a waste pipe 15 on the exterior of a building16. A chain 20 is wound around the waste pipe 15 and attachedto the hook 11 of the attachment member 5. The arrangementcomprises a beam 17 connected to the building 16 and extendinggenerally horizontally in its longitudinal direction. The beam 17 isa U-shaped beam having a bottom flange 18 that extends in agenerally horizontal plane. An opposite, upper flange 19 of thebeam also extends in a generally horizontal plane. The beam 17is directed such that the free ends of its flanges 18, 19 point in ahorizontal direction out from the building 16. The building 16 is aconstructional barrack and the beam 17 is a load-carrying beamarranged around the periphery of the building 16 and on a bottomside latter.
A holder element 1 according to the present invention and withthe design as shown in figs. 1 and 2 is attached to the bottomflange 18 of the beam 17. One end of the bottom flange 18extends into said pocket 7 of the holder element 1. The mass ofthe holder element 1, and the fact that its centre of gravity is inthe vicinity of the first end of the first arm portion 2, result in atorque acting on the holder element 1 such that the holderelement applies an upwards directed force on the bottom flange 18 of the beam 17 at the second end of the first arm portion 2,close to the heel 6.
The distance d between the heel 6 and the pocket 7 is less thana width w of the bottom flange 18 of the beam 17. Accordingly, byapplying a tilting force onto the holder element 1, the bottomflange 17 can be inserted into the pocket 7 or removed from thepocket 7. When the bottom flange 18 of the beam 17 is insertedinto the pocket 7, the heel 6 prevents the holder element 1 frombeing displaced in a horizontal direction such that the bottomflange 17 loses its engagement with said pocket. The flange 8 onthe first arm portion 2, which defines the pocket 7 together withthe first arm portion 2, prevents the holder element 1 from movingout of engagement with the bottom flange 18 of the beam 17 in avertical direction.
The pocket 7 has a height h and the part of the bottom flange 18of the beam 17 which is received in the pocket has a thickness t,wherein t
