Abstract

The present invention relates to an isolated impact testing release and catch apparatus. The isolated impact testing release and catch apparatus comprises an isolated impact hammer guided by a crosshead for precise impact. There is an instrumented impact tup for recording load response. There is a mechanism for the separation of the isolated impact hammer from the crosshead during impact. There is a catch device that is activated during the rebound to catch the free hanging isolated impact hammer in order to prevent the secondary impact.
