Abstract

A latch device (10) for a piece of furniture (50) having first and second sliding doors (53, 54) is disclosed. The latch device (10) has a housing (12) which is adapted to be mounted to the piece of furniture. The latch device (10) also has a latching assembly (20) which is adapted for operation between an extended position (Fig 8), in which the latching assembly (20) engages the second sliding door (54) of the piece of furniture (50) to keep it in a closed end position, and a retracted position (Fig 9), in which the second sliding door is released by the latching assembly (20) and is slideable to an open position. The latch device (10) moreover has an actuator assembly (30) which is adapted for actuation by the first sliding door (53) of the piece of furniture (50) when being slid from a closed end position towards an open position, wherein the actuator assembly (30) forces the latching assembly (20) to its retracted position and releases the second sliding door.
