Abstract
Method in the manufacture of steel, especially stainless steel, one or more metal-containing residues from the steel manufacturing process being mixed with an admixture which has a content of a substance in group 14 of the periodic system, following which the mixture is allowed to solidify and the mixture thus solidified is returned to a steel melt in connection with the manufacture of steel. The said residues preferably comprise a metal-containing hydroxide sludge from a steel pickling stage and/or metal-containing, finely dispersed or powdery residues from the steel manufacturing process.
