Abstract

The alarm system comprises a land-based sea chart database (5) and an alarm unit (1) with GPS, wireless communication and processing capabilities, which is in communication with the database. The alarm communications via e.g. Bluetooth communication with a mobile phone equipped with Bluetooth and GPRS communication functionality, and the phone communicates with the database via GPRS communication.
