Abstract

The machine-driven instrument for removal of caries-damaged dentine works in conjunction with chemical-mechanical treatment where caries-dissolving fluid is applied. The instrument comprises a tool head (1) with a number of scraping edges for excavating softened, caries-damaged tooth substances. The instrument tool head is drivable in two different directions. In the one direction, softened damaged dentine is scraped away and in the other direction hard caries, dentine, etc., is cut away.
