Abstract

A driving mechanism (1) for a tap changer, comprising means (2) for manoeuvring the tap changer between different switching positions and a member for detecting a setting position of the driving mechanism corresponding to a switching position of the tap changer set via the manoeuvring means (2). The detection member comrises a position sensor (39) adapted to emit sensor signals to an electric supervision and control unit (40), the supervision and control unit (40) being adapted to process the sensor signals to output signals representing the setting position and/or the switching position. The supervision and control unit (40) is further adapted to control the manoeuvring means (2) in dependence on received control instructions. The invention also relates to a tap changer comprising a driving mechanism of the mentioned kind.
