Description
The utility model relates to devices used in the field of wastewater treatment, namely, in the mechanical treatment of sludges recovered from wastewater.
37-44).Mechanical dewatering of sewage sludge is carried out on filter presses, belt thickeners, centrifuges and other dewatering equipment with polymer conditioning of sludge (see, for example, GP Medvedev, Sewerage of Germany, L., Stroyizdat, 1982, p. 37- 44).
To ensure the operation of filter presses in an optimal, economic mode, it is necessary to make an accurate dosage of the flocculant for conditioning precipitation. Excess or insufficient amount of introduced flocculant in both cases negatively affects the quality of the dehydrated sludge, the efficiency and productivity of work, for example, filter presses. In this regard, it is necessary to know the exact actual concentration of the flocculant solution.
Currently, the concentration of the working solution of the flocculant is set by calculation by the ratio of the volumes of the mother liquor and industrial water in the process of dilution. Then the actual concentration is checked in the laboratory. The conditioning effect of the flocculant is evaluated by the rate of moisture loss, for the determination of which there are two of the most common methods.
Baskerville R., С., Crale R. S. A simple Automatic Instrument for Determining the Filtrability of Sewage Sluges. - JWPCF, Vol.67, 1968, N 2.).The first technique uses an instrument to determine capillary suction time (VKB). The operating principle of the device is based on measuring the time during which the moisture of the flocculated precipitate is absorbed into a special filter paper and travels a certain distance along it (see Baskerville R., C., Crale RS A simple Automatic Instrument for Determining the Filtrability of Sewage Sluges. - JWPCF, Vol. 67, 1968, N 2.).
Reuter J. Flockung und Flockungsmittel. Die Bedeutung organischer, synthetischer, polymerer Flockungsmittel fur die Filtration. Krefeld, 1978.The second technique uses gravity filtering of the flocculated precipitate through a nylon or polypropylene filter cloth (see Reuter J. Flockung und Flockungsmittel. Die Bedeutung organischer, synthetischer, polymerer Flockungsmittel fur die Filtration. Krefeld, 1978.
However, it should be noted that both of these methods give only comparative characteristics of the moisture loss of the flocculated sediment and do not allow to determine the required concentration of flocculant.
Thus, existing methods for determining the actual concentration of the working solution of the flocculant take a lot of time, have low accuracy and cannot, therefore, be used for operational control when controlling the flow of flocculant.
The objective of this utility model is the efficiency and accuracy of measuring the concentration of a flocculant solution used for mechanical dewatering of sediments on filter presses, belt thickeners, centrifuges and other equipment.
The task is implemented by the device, the principle of which is based on the following.
The flocculant used is a high molecular weight polymer having a characteristic solution viscosity. According to laboratory studies, its viscosity has a direct relationship with the concentration of flocculant. Moreover, the content of impurities in dilution water does not significantly affect the viscosity.
The design of the device (see figure 1) includes:
- коническую емкость (1) с кольцевым лотком (2) в верхней части и калибровочным отверстием (3) в нижней части;- a conical container (1) with an annular tray (2) in the upper part and a calibration hole (3) in the lower part;
- клапан (4);- valve (4);
- штатив (5);- tripod (5);
- стакан (6);- a glass (6);
- измерительный блок (условно не показан).- measuring unit (conventionally not shown).
The operation of the device is as follows:
The conical container (1) is fixed on a tripod, the valve (4) is closed, the flocculant working solution (for example, 100 ml) is poured into the conical container (1), the upper level of the solution in the conical container is leveled with a plate that rakes excesses into the annular tray (2), the valve (4) closes the calibration hole (3) opens and the flocculant solution is poured from the container (1) into the glass (6) located on the tripod platform (5). The size of the calibration hole (for example, 3 mm) is selected empirically. The spill time is fixed by a measuring unit equipped with a timer, for example a stopwatch, which allows using a special chart (see figure 2) to determine the concentration of the solution depending on the time of its spout.
A diagram of the dependence of the solution concentration on the spout time is preliminarily constructed using a calibration solution of known concentration and with fixing the time of its spout and placed in the measuring unit.
Using the utility model allows you to quickly measure the time of the outflow of the solution and using the measuring unit (according to the diagram) to determine the concentration of the flocculant solution with an accuracy of 0.01%. The proposed device is easy to manufacture and operate. Maintaining the optimal concentration of flocculant (0.1-0.2%) can significantly reduce its consumption during the treatment of sludge formed at treatment plants.
