The inventive utility model relates to the technique of laser isotope separation, mass spectrometric technology and can be used in the field of research of the isotopic composition of substances.
Closest to the claimed device is a device for calibrating a mass spectrometer S.I. Yakovlenko. “The main physical problems of laser separation of weighted amounts of the rare ytterbium isotope”, g. "Quantum Electronics." 25, No. 11, pp. 971-988, 1998. The prototype device comprises an ionization chamber, an evaporator, a laser radiation source and an ion guide with an extractive lens of the mass spectrometer. Copper vapor lasers were used to pump dye lasers. The system of dye lasers consisted of three channels constructed according to the master oscillator-amplifier circuit. The radiation quality was monitored by the ion composition of the laser plasma using a mass spectrometer. Laser beams were reduced to a single composite beam using an information mirror. The composite beam was introduced into the vacuum chamber of the mass spectrometer and passed through a beam of atomic vapor formed by the evaporator. As a result of photoionization of atoms, ions of various isotopes appeared. Intra-chamber equipment of the vacuum chamber included an evaporator, an extractor system, and steam density control sensors.
The disadvantages of this device on the prototype include restrictions on the energy range of the used ionizing radiation.
When creating the inventive utility model, the problem of using two types of ionizing radiation was solved.
The technical result in solving this problem was to expand the capabilities of the practical implementation of the calibration process.

4.The inventive mass spectrometer calibration device comprises an ionization chamber 1, an evaporator 2, a laser radiation source 3, and an ion guide 4 with an extractive lens 5. In addition, an electron source 6 is located above the ionization chamber, consisting of a wire cathode 7 and an annular anode 8 mounted coaxially with holes the ionization chamber 1 and the stretching lens 5 of the ion guide 4.
In an example of a specific embodiment of the inventive device, the ionization chamber is made of steel, with four technological holes around the perimeter for introducing atomic vapor and laser radiation, as well as with a hole with a diameter of 8 mm, located coaxially above the hole of the ion duct pulling lens. A ceramic steel insulator is located above the ionization chamber on ceramic insulators with an aperture that coincides in axis with the aperture of the ion guide traction lens. The cathode is a tungsten spiral mounted on steel holders and inserted into the vacuum chamber above the anode opening. The evaporator is an ohmic tungsten heater. Inside the spiral there is a foil of sprayed material in our case of ytterbium.
The inventive device allows the calibration of the mass spectrometer using two types of ionizing radiation.
Сигналы (отдельные пики) разделяются на экране осциллографа (Фиг.2).Calibration of the mass spectrometer using photoionization is as follows. The laser beam from source 3 through the window 11 in the vacuum chamber was introduced into the ionization chamber 1 of the mass spectrometer and passed through a beam of atomic vapor 15 formed in the evaporator 2. As a result of photoionization of ytterbium atoms, ions of various ytterbium isotopes appear. An ion beam is formed in the ion guide 4 using a system of electrostatic lenses. As a dispersing element in the mass spectrometer, a deflecting sector permanent magnet 12 is used, which also has focusing properties for monoenergetic ions. The selection of ions occurs due to a linearly varying (sawtooth) voltage applied to the lens 5, which draws ions from the plasma. Ions of different masses fall at different times to an electronic amplifier 14 located at the output of the ion guide 4 and designed to amplify the electric pulse. The signals (individual peaks) are separated on the oscilloscope screen (Figure 2).
Calibration using electron impact ionization is as follows. An electron source 6 was located above the ion conductor 4 in the vacuum chamber 9 of the mass spectrometer 4. Electrons obtained by thermionic emission are accelerated by the potential difference between the cathode 7 and anode 8. Accelerated electrons passing through the atomic vapor beam 15 ionize ytterbium. The mass spectrum of the isotope product was recorded using a computerized system and duplicated on an oscilloscope. The obtained mass spectrum (Fig. 3) contained all stable isotopes and was optimized by resolution with the help of lenses of the ion guide 4 and deflecting magnet 12 to the reference mass spectrum (see, tables of mass spectra, for example, F.V. Aston. “Mass -spectra and isotopes ”, M., State Publishing House of Foreign Literature, 1948). The voltage applied to the lenses and the position of the magnet were fixed.
Thus, the inventive device allows you to expand the practical implementation of the calibration process using ionization, both laser radiation and electron impact.
