State of the art
[1].A device for optical insulation control, containing a power source and placed between the lens and the eyepiece, a strobe brightness amplifier, made in the form of optically sequentially installed photocathode, microchannel plate and a phosphor screen coated with a metal film [1].
The disadvantage of the device [1] is the low quality of the image on the phosphor screen of the brightness amplifier visible through the eyepiece due to the accumulation of an electron cloud in front of the microchannel plate. The electrons emitted by the photocathode create a flash on the phosphor screen when a gating pulse is applied to the microchannel plate and thereby reduce the contrast, and, consequently, the image quality and, in general, the reliability of the insulation control.

Implementation of a utility model.
Figure 1 presents a block diagram of the device, figure 2 is a timing chart explaining its operation.
8.In Fig. 1, a power source 1, a gating amplifier 2, located between the lens 3 and the eyepiece 4 is shown. The amplifier 2 is made in the form of a photocathode 5 optically in series, a microchannel plate 6, and a phosphor screen 8 coated with a metal film 7. The source 1 is provided with an output of 9 gates pulses connected to the photocathode 5, and is configured to maintain on the photocathode 5 in a pause between the strobe pulses of a positive potential relative to the potential facing the photocathode 5 10, a microchannel plate 6. Yield 11 source 1 is connected to the opposite surface of the plate 6, and the output of source 12 1 is connected to the film 7 of the screen 8.
The device operates as follows.
The operator directs the lens 3 at a controlled insulating structure. Under the action of a high alternating voltage U applied to the controlled structure U (see Fig. 2), corona and partial discharges (PD) arise on its surface, the glow of which observes
В результате усилитель 2 в паузе между стробирующими импульсами остается в закрытом состоянии.the operator through the eyepiece 4. Source 1 delivers gating pulses U fc of negative polarity to the photocathode 5, a constant anode voltage of positive polarity to the film 7, and a constant positive voltage of a smaller magnitude than the anode voltage to plate 6. In the pause between the strobe pulses of negative polarity, the source 1 generates a small voltage of positive polarity at the output 9 (Fig. 2), which is enough to suck the electrons emitted by the photocathode 5 from the gap between the photocathode 5 and plate 6 (photoelectrons due to external illumination and thermal electrons) . As a result, the amplifier 2 in the pause between the strobe pulses remains in the closed state.
5.When a gating pulse arrives at the photocathode 5 near it there is no electron cloud accumulated in the pause, and all the photoelectrons emitted by the photocathode 5 drift to the plate 6 under the influence of an electric field, in which, under the action of an internal field created by the voltage at the output 11, and the secondary emission effect the number of electrons increases tens of thousands of times. Electrons flying out of the plate 6 are accelerated by the field acting between the plate 6 and the film 7, pierce the film 7 and, striking the phosphor screen 8, cause its luminescence, amplified tens of thousands of times with respect to the glow of the photocathode 5.
Since in the pause between the strobe pulses, the amplifier 2 is reliably locked by the positive voltage at the output 9 of the source 1, the contrast, and therefore the quality of the image visible in the eyepiece 4, increases.
