40%.Potatoes are one of the most consumed products - its rational consumption rate is 100 kg/person. in year. It is a source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, a complex of vitamins and microelements. In providing the population with this type of product, the organization of its storage plays an important role. According to various sources, the amount of its losses at this stage can range from 25 to 40%.
The creation of new environmentally friendly protective drugs with a different spectrum of action, aimed at reducing the incidence of potato diseases during storage, should be considered as one of the ways to increase the shelf life of this type of product. There is a known patent RU 2534561 C2 “Method of processing potato tubers before storage”, which provides for the treatment of potato tubers before storage with a biological product containing the biomass of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens VKPM V-1100. Patent SU 1386143 “Method of preparation for storage of fruits and vegetables” considers the treatment of potatoes before storage with a 0.5% glycidol solution for 4 minutes.
The closest to the invention in terms of the totality of existing features is patent RU 2253218 C2 “Method of preparing potatoes before storage”, which considers as an active substance a suspension of Steinernema feltiae and a preparation obtained from the biomass of the micromycete Mortierella parvispora, which has an immunostimulating effect. The disadvantage of this method is that this drug is aimed at protecting products from pests, but not from diseases.
From an analysis of known technological solutions, it was revealed that one of the problems in this area is the need to use protective drugs that have a comprehensive effect on increasing shelf life, including by reducing tuber contamination during storage.
To solve this problem, a method is proposed for processing potatoes before storage, involving treatment with an immunomodulator, while for processing the immunomodulatory drug zircon is used as part of a tank mixture, including a complex of sucrose esters and fatty acids in an amount of 2.0-4.0 l and zircon 0.02-0.03 l per 100 l of working solution.
The claimed tank mixture allows the formation of a protective coating on the surface of the tubers, which has an immunomodulatory effect, manifested in reducing potato losses from diseases during storage.
Treatment of potato tubers is carried out by finely dispersed spraying of the drug during loading of potatoes into storage at a consumption rate of 10 l/t.
We studied 2 variants of a tank mixture with different contents of the film-forming drug NATURCOVER CONSERVACION EXTRA (hereinafter referred to as NaturCover), the active ingredient of which is a complex of esters of sucrose and fatty acids on 4 varieties of potatoes (Red Scarlett, Bullfinch, Riviera and Meteor). Their influence on the shelf life and susceptibility to potato diseases when stored in storage facilities with general ventilation without artificial cooling when placing products in containers was assessed. Storability assessment was carried out based on the yield of marketable products and the nature of tuber susceptibility to diseases.
1.Example 1.
Post-harvest treatment of tubers with a tank mixture containing 0.02% zircon and 4% NaturCover. As a result of processing, the yield of marketable tubers was 91.7% for the Red Scarlett variety, 85.0% for the Bullfinch variety, 88.3% for the Riviera variety and 89.2% for the Meteor variety. For the varieties Red Scarlett and Meteor, a significant increase in storage capacity was observed compared to the control (without treatment) due to a decrease in the incidence of tubers by fusarium. A trend towards a decrease in losses from fusarium was noted for all varieties studied. The shelf life indicators of potatoes treated with this tank mixture are presented in the table.
2.Example 2.
Post-harvest treatment of tubers with a tank mixture containing 0.02% zircon and 2% NaturCover. As a result of processing, the yield of marketable tubers was 93.6% for the Red Scarlett variety, 88.0% for the Bullfinch variety, 87.0% for the Riviera variety and 88.1% for the Meteor variety. Similar to example 1, the most pronounced effect of this tank mixture was in the Red Scarlett and Meteor varieties. The shelf life indicators of potatoes treated with this tank mixture are presented in the table.
From the presented data it follows that treatment with tank mixtures, which include zircon and NaturCover preparations, helps to increase the shelf life of potatoes by reducing losses from Fusarium dry rot.
The proposed method can be used at agricultural enterprises that carry out long-term storage of potatoes in order to reduce losses of this type of product.
