Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and metallurgy, namely, to equipment for induction heating and melting of metals. Crucible induction furnaces (ITFs) are widely used to obtain precision metal alloys, in which melting technologies with controlled melt movement and the nature of metal circulation are implemented.
The closest in technical essence to the claimed invention is an induction melting plant containing a semiconductor frequency converter with a parallel current inverter and an ITP with a single-phase inductor [L1] from ABP Induction, the circuit of which is chosen as a prototype.
The problem of this prototype is the inability to control the movement of the metal during melting and mixing of the melt. With a single-phase supply of the inductor, the melt circulates along two toroidal circuits, due to the presence of a normal compressive electrodynamic pressure, unevenly distributed over the height of the crucible, reaching a maximum value in its middle part. In addition, the force effect on the metal leads to the formation of a meniscus (bulge) on the surface of the melt [L2]. Double-circuit metal circulation leads to inhomogeneity of the chemical composition and to uneven temperature distribution in the melt,since there is practically no mixing of metal between the circulating circuits. In this case, the meniscus leads to supercooling of its surface and the need to use a large amount of protective slag.
The present invention - installation for induction melting of metals - allows to eliminate the noted shortcomings of classical installations and to ensure effective control of the movement of metal in the technological process of processing and alloying the alloy.
The essence of the invention is as follows. Induction melting plant, consisting of an induction furnace with a single-phase inductor, shunted by a compensating capacitor. A frequency converter with a current inverter containing two groups of valves connected in parallel connected through a filter choke to the DC terminals of the rectifier, each group consisting of two valves connected in series, the common terminals of which are connected to an inductor.
What is new is that the furnace inductor is made in the form of sections shunted with additional compensating capacitors, and the inverter is equipped with additional groups of series-connected valves, the common terminals of which are connected to the common terminals of the inductor sections.
In FIG. 1 shows a diagram of an installation for induction melting of metals, in which the following are indicated:
1 - фильтровый дроссель;1 - filter choke;
2-9, 5-6 - две основные группы вентилей инвертора;2-9, 5-6 - two main groups of inverter valves;
3-8, 4-7 - дополнительные группы вентилей инвертора;3-8, 4-7 - additional groups of inverter valves;
10, 11, 12 - компенсирующие конденсаторы;10, 11, 12 - compensating capacitors;
13, 14, 15 - furnace inductor sections.
The installation works as follows. The main groups of valves form a valve bridge, in the alternating current diagonal of which the furnace inductor is included. When the valves 2 - 9 and 5 - 6 are opened in pairs, an alternating current of a rectangular shape I n is formed at the output of the inverter. The voltage on the oscillatory circuit U n , formed by the inductor and compensating capacitors, has a sinusoidal shape, with the capacitive nature of the impedance and a phase shift with respect to the fundamental harmonic of the inverter current by an angle ϕ n (see Fig. 2a). Inductor sections and compensating capacitors form oscillatory circuits 10 - 13, 11 - 14, 12 - 15, moreover, the natural frequencies of the upper circuits must be higher than the lower ones, while the voltage on the upper sections of the inductor has a lagging phase shift with respect to the voltage on the lower sections of the inductor . On the vector diagram (see Fig.2, a) the phase shift of the voltages U 12 and U 13 is equal to the angle ϕ 23 and the angle between the voltage U 11 and U 12 is ϕ 12 . In this case, the geometric sum of the voltage on the sections is equal to the total voltage on the inductor.
1.The currents in the inductor sections are shifted at the same angles, which induce phase-shifted eddy currents in the liquid metal bath, as a result of which tangential electrodynamic forces are created in the conjugate zones of the inductor sections A 1 and A 2 , directed from bottom to top along the axis of the crucible P τ 12 , P τ 23 (Fig. 2b). In addition, normal components of the forces of electrodynamic action are created, causing radial pressure on the liquid metal bath P n 11 , P n 12 , P n 13 . The combined action of axial and radial forces contribute to the formation of a single-circuit metal circulation with upward metal flows near the walls of the crucible (see figv). However, the axial electrodynamic forces are much smaller than the radial ones, so the axial forces generated in the melt may not be enough to change the nature of the metal circulation in the crucible. To increase the efficiency of metal mixing, it is advisable to change the power supply mode of the inductor sections so that the high-frequency current in them changes periodically in a certain sequence. In this case, the normal electrodynamic pressure acting on the liquid metal bath moves along the axis of the crucible, creating a traveling pressure wave at a given speed and causing a directed movement of the liquid metal. Such a power supply mode for the inductor sections is provided in the proposed current inverter circuit shown in Fig. one.
P τ12, P τ23.In the first mode of operation of the inverter, valves 2 - 7 and 3 - 6 are switched on in pairs, while the output current of the rectangular inverter is formed, feeding the oscillatory circuit 12 - 15. It creates the largest current and develops the most electromagnetic pressureP n 13 at the bottom of the furnace crucible (see Fig. 3a). Mutual induction current flows in other sections of the inductor, and radial pressures are createdP n eleven,P n 12 significantly smaller than in the lower part of the crucible, and axial forces also actP τ12,P τ23.
P τ12.In the second mode of operation, valves 2 - 8, 4 - 6 are switched on in pairs and the output current of the inverter flows through two series-connected oscillatory circuits 11 - 14, 12 - 15. Currents are excited in them and radial pressure forces are created P n 12,P n 13 in the lower and middle parts of the furnace crucible (see Fig. 3b). A mutual induction current flows in the upper section of the inductor and a relatively small radial pressure is createdP n eleven. The highest axial forces are also created in the meltP τ23 and relatively smallP τ12.
3).In the third mode of operation, valves 2 - 9, 5 - 6 are switched on in pairs and the output current of the inverter flows through three series-connected oscillatory circuits 10 - 13, 11 - 14, 12 - 15, in which approximately the same currents are excited and the same radial electromagnetic pressure is createdP n eleven,P n 12,P n 13, and the same axial forces appear in the meltP τ12,P τ23 (see Fig. 3).
Thus, the front of the radial pressure wave during the transition from one mode of operation of the inverter to another moves along the axis of the furnace from bottom to top with a speed determined by the frequency of switching modes of the inverter. In this case, the axial forces in the intersection zones act in the same direction, which contributes to the creation of a single-loop circulation of the liquid metal and its active mixing throughout the working volume of the furnace.
