Abstract
Description
The invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular to the creation of titanium-based titanium alloys that are resistant to high-temperature oxidation, and can be used for the manufacture of products that operate for a long time at high temperatures, in particular components of the exhaust systems of vehicle engines.
Exhaust system components of vehicle engines operate under high temperature oxidation conditions (operating temperature can reach 900°C), therefore, the materials used for these systems require a high level of characteristics such as corrosion resistance, heat resistance, strength. In addition, the material used must have sufficient process ductility, because most components are made by cold forming from sheet metal and by bending welded pipes. Austenitic stainless steels have been used for a long time as a material that meets the requirements, and in recent years, with an increase in the demand for use, stainless ferritic steels, which have a small thermal expansion coefficient and lower raw material cost, are used instead. However, for the production of exhaust system components, an important task is to reduce weight while maintaining performance. Therefore, in order to manufacture exhaust systems with a lower weight, allowing to obtain advantages in reducing the overall weight of the vehicle structure, the preference of developers is given to titanium alloys, which have a high specific strength, far exceeding the specific strength of alloy steels. The advantages obtained from replacing alloyed steels with titanium alloys are very significant, since they allow reducing the weight of parts by at least 1.5 times, reducing corrosion and operational difficulties.
It is known to use commercially pure (CP) titanium in automobile exhaust systems and motorcycle mufflers, and weight savings when titanium is used to replace stainless steel can be up to 44%. However, the components are heated to over 500°C during operation, which causes the used CP titanium materials to rapidly oxidize, reduce strength properties and, accordingly, reduce service life. Therefore, the use of CP titanium without special surface treatment is limited to individual exhaust system components operating at relatively low temperatures. To improve the resistance to oxidation, various coatings in the form of films or surface phase deposition can be applied to titanium components, however, such methods are very expensive and not effective enough.
The existing developments of heat-resistant titanium alloys based on high-alloy alloys and intermetallic compounds, in particular, titanium aluminides, operating for a short time up to a temperature of 900°C, do not meet the technical requirements for the material due to their low technological plasticity, both in the manufacture of thin sheet products and in the manufacture of finished components of exhaust systems from it, which limits the use of high-alloy titanium alloys in these products. Therefore, the creation of new advanced low-alloy titanium alloys with a complex of high mechanical and operational properties that provide reliable and durable operation of vehicle exhaust system components with an increase in the need for their use is a very urgent technical task.
14/00).Known alpha-titanium alloy for components of the exhaust system, containing from 0.4 to 1.5 wt. % Al, from 0.5 to 1.5 wt. % Sn, from 0.5 to 2.0 wt. % Zr, from 0.1 to 1.0 wt. % Si, ≤0.04 wt. % oxygen and ≤0.06 wt. % Fe, or in addition, containing, in addition to the above, from 0.1 to 1.5 wt. % Nb (Patent Japan No. 4850662, published 01/11/2012, IPC C22B 34/12, C22B 9/22, C22C 14/00).
The alloy has an increased resistance to oxidation with respect to CP-titanium, high plastic properties, but has a low level of strength properties at room and elevated temperatures.
Known low-alloy titanium alloy, which has excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation and corrosion, used as an exhaust system material for a vehicle or motorcycle and containing, wt. %, Al: 0.30-1.50%, Si: 0.10-1.0% and additionally containing Nb: 0.1-0.5 / 01; С22С 14/00, F01N 7/16) - prototype.
The alloy has high strength and plastic properties at room and elevated temperatures, heat resistance, but has an insufficient level of resistance to high-temperature oxidation.
The problem to which the invention is directed is the creation of a titanium alloy with the possibility of manufacturing a wide range of products from it, including those used in the components of vehicle exhaust systems.
The technical result achieved in the implementation of the invention is the production of a titanium alloy with a complex of high mechanical and operational properties, including an increased level of resistance to high-temperature oxidation.
%:The technical result is achieved by the proposed titanium-based alloy containing aluminum, zirconium, niobium, molybdenum, silicon, oxygen, nitrogen, iron, hydrogen, carbon, while the alloy components are taken in the following ratio, wt. %:
и компонент выхлопной системы транспортного средства, изготовленный из этого сплава.and a vehicle exhaust system component made from this alloy.
The composition of the alloy contains alloying elements from various groups of stabilizers: alpha stabilizers: aluminum, oxygen, carbon; beta stabilizers: molybdenum, iron, niobium, silicon; neutral hardener: zirconium.
Aluminum is the most effective hardener in titanium alloys, improving the strength properties of the alloy and heat resistance. The aluminum content in the alloy is taken from 0.7-1.5 wt. %, because the aluminum content is less than 0.7 wt. % does not lead to an increase in strength to the required level, and the content of more than 1.5 wt. % reduces plasticity at room temperature. The content of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon within the specified limits, along with an increase in strength, increases the temperature of the allotropic transformation of titanium and ensures the preservation of a high level of strength and ductility. Higher concentrations of oxygen and carbon reduce the technological ductility and impact strength of the alloy.
(Zr).Group of neutral hardeners (Zr).
Zirconium, introduced into the alloy as a neutral element, forms a completely miscible series of solid solutions with α-titanium, is relatively close to it in terms of melting temperature and density, reduces the negative effect of gaseous impurities, in particular oxygen, and refines the structure. Doping with zirconium in the range of 0.5-1.5 wt. % provides additional solid-solution hardening and increased heat resistance.
(Nb, Mo, Fe, Si).Group of beta stabilizers (Nb, Mo, Fe, Si).
The alloy is doped with niobium in an amount of more than 0.5-1.5 wt. %, which increases the resistance to oxidation, since niobium is one of the elements that increase this characteristic most strongly among all titanium alloying elements.
Compared with the prototype in the alloy introduced another β-stabilizer - molybdenum in the amount of 0.1-0.5 wt. %, contributing to the increase in the heat resistance of the alloy. To increase the resistance to oxidation, the alloy contains no more than 0.5 wt. % silicon, which increases creep resistance.
The presence of iron in the alloy, which is a low-cost β-stabilizing element, increases the strength of the alloy without reducing ductility, the iron content is more than 0.2 wt. % leads to a decrease in heat resistance.
The maximum hydrogen content in the alloy, limited to 0.015 wt. %, avoids the embrittlement of the alloy due to the possible formation of titanium hydrides.
The composition of the elements introduced into the composition of the alloy in the claimed ratio and characterized individually by a favorable effect on the oxidation resistance of titanium makes it possible to achieve an additive effect in terms of obtaining high values of the alloy oxidation resistance while providing strength and plastic properties in relation to known alloys.
The industrial applicability of the invention is confirmed by an example of its specific implementation.

After that, the resistance to oxidation was studied by calculating the weight gain of the samples, expressed in mg/cm 2 , and the average thickness of the oxide on the surface of the samples was determined on microsections in the longitudinal section. The results of studies of the thickness of the oxide in comparison with the prototype alloy are shown in table. 3, the results of oxidation resistance studies compared to the prototype alloy are shown in graphs of weight gain vs. square root of oxidation time at 625°C, 700°C, and 800°C, respectively, in FIG. 1, fig. 2 and FIG. 3. In FIG. Figure 4 shows a photograph of the oxide on the sample surface in longitudinal section after isothermal annealing at 800°C for 100 hours (at 550-fold magnification).
Analysis of the test results and research data showed that the proposed alloy has a set of high mechanical and operational properties, including strength properties and ductility at room temperature, heat resistance, and oxidation resistance by an average of 10-15% and higher than that of known similar alloys. .
