PROTOTYPES (PRIOR ART)
Known patent RU 2625258 "Method and device for dynamic gas analysis, built into the exhalation line of the breathing mask". The invention makes it possible to analyze flowing non-stationary gas mixtures for a long time of its use. However, it does not take into account the inevitable turbulence and, as a consequence, the change in the concentration of water vapor and test substances per unit volume of the exhaled air flow during the respiratory cycle, as well as the occurrence of measurement errors as a result of such distortions in the flow characteristics.
The proposed invention differs from the invention described in patent RU 2625258 in that it is possible to complete the gas analyzer with a system for adjusting the aerodynamic characteristics of the flow in the form of perforated movable and fixed dampers.
Known patent WO 2015/143384 Al. The present invention makes it possible to evaluate and regulate exhaled air flows for further analysis of the gas mixture. However, the system specified in the patent is intended only for gas analysis systems that implement sampling. At the same time, the described invention is not capable of realizing a continuous analysis of dynamically changing and non-stationary gas flows.
In contrast to the invention indicated in the patent WO 2015/143384 Al, the aim of the present invention is not only to regulate the air flow, but also to continuously determine and interpret changes in the composition of the exhaled gas mixture in real time over a long period directly in the exhalation line of the breathing mask (air highways). This goal is achieved through the implementation of the principles of analysis of dynamic gaseous media (dynamic gas analysis) in determining the quantitative and qualitative composition of the passing gas mixture by continuous analysis of the absorption spectra of the determined gases using optical cells based on matched emitter-receiver pairs, additionally equipped with a set of pressure and humidity sensors , as well as other gas-dynamic devices such as perforated dampers.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION
A method is proposed for analyzing dynamic gaseous media for non-invasive monitoring of the state of an object (patient), carried out by the method of laser absorption spectroscopy, based on continuous analysis of the passing flow of exhaled air over the entire cross-sectional area of the air line without sampling using an optical cell. The optical cell consists of reflective surfaces and compact monochromatic emitter-receiver pairs. In turn, single optical cells having pre-calculated shapes and sizes can be combined into a set of optical cells. An optical cell or a set of optical cells is complemented by a complex of pressure and humidity sensors built into the air line for continuous monitoring of the gas-dynamic characteristics of the air flow. Before entering the measurement zone, which is an optical cell or a set of optical cells, the exhaled air flow is deturbulized using a perforated damper that blocks the exhaled air flow and has a set of holes located in such a way that the gas jets exiting the holes pass perpendicular to the laser beams.
The basis of the device for analyzing dynamic gaseous media is an optical cell consisting of a pair of emitter-receiver and a frame element with a reflective surface. A compact monochromatic pair of emitter-receiver is a laser-based emitter and a radiation receiver mounted in a pre-calculated profiled rigid thin-walled frame element, which has mirrored working surfaces inside with a high reflection coefficient (from 0.95 and higher) in that part of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum that corresponds to operating spectrum of the emitter-receiver pair to ensure multiple reflection of the laser beam. Optical cells can have the form of both simple geometric shapes and arbitrary complex shapes. Their size and shape depend on the technical specifications, dimensions and relative location of the built-in emitters and receivers, as well as the geometry of the air line.
The selection of monochromatic emitter-receiver pairs for optical cells is made depending on the list of determined gases, selected in accordance with the task set for each specific case. The principles of absorption laser spectroscopy can be implemented both by a single emitter-receiver pair and by pairs installed in series in one cell.
The internal structure and geometry of the optical cell, as well as the relative position of the emitter and receiver, are calculated for each of the determined components of the gas mixture in such a way as to provide the beam with a sufficient path length and the maximum possible overlap of the air flow cross section with a fixed number of reflections, as well as minimal flow turbulence for obtaining a reliable result of measuring the concentration of selected components based on the known laws of absorption spectroscopy. Measurements of the concentrations of various components of the gas mixture are carried out in pre-calculated non-overlapping spectral ranges for various emitter-receiver pairs.
Considering the passage of exhaled air, which is a gas mixture of variable composition and nature of the flow, in the breathing mask - exhalation line system and correlating it with the human respiratory cycle (for example, according to Buteyko K.P.), the following stages can be distinguished:
1. Vacuum, when a person inhales the respiratory mixture and partially captures air from the mask.
2. Stabilization when inhaling.
3. Exhalation and passage of the exhaled (with an admixture of biomarkers) air mixture into the expiratory line, accompanied by an increase in pressure in the undermask space.
4. A pause between exhalation and inhalation, during which the air by inertia continues to gradually exit into the exhalation line of the mask until the pressure in the undermask space stabilizes and equalizes with the external pressure.
Such a respiration cycle inevitably leads to turbulence of the exhaled air flow, which can affect the amount of detected chemical elements over time and, accordingly, can affect the quality of the results of the measuring device operation.
Also, the exhaled air has a high relative humidity (close to 100%), which increases the scattering coefficient of laser radiation. In this case, water vapor can occupy several percent of the total mass of exhaled air. In addition, being in the expiratory line, the air is subject to pressure pulsations in accordance with the respiratory cycle, which inevitably leads to its turbulence, the degree and cyclicity of which in general cannot be calculated in advance.
- 2001. - Т. 171, №10. - С. 1117-1129].When determining the quantitative composition of exhaled air by absorption laser spectroscopy, we take into account that the passage of the laser beam itself is not affected by the degree of turbulence of the gas mixture. However, a change in humidity affects the scattering coefficient of the laser beam: humidity increases - the scattering coefficient increases due to the fact that in more humid air there are a significantly larger number of water microdroplets, each of which is a microlens and, accordingly, contributes to beam scattering [Datsyuk V.V., Izmailov I.A. Optics of microdroplets // UFN. - 2001. - T. 171, No. 10. - S. 1117-1129].
Thus, with pressure pulsation in the exhaled air flow, a measurement error will occur and accumulate due to a change in the characteristics of the medium under study due to a dynamic change in the number of water microdroplets in the high and low pressure zones that occur during air turbulence in the expiratory line during the respiratory cycle. Considering the low concentrations (of the order of ppb and ppm) of the majority of chemical compounds detected in exhaled air that are significant for medicine, such errors can have a significant impact on the quality and accuracy of measurements. It is difficult to fix and control such local beats of humidity and density of microdroplets for introducing correction factors even with a combination of humidity sensors and optical cells tuned to the water vapor absorption line.
Hence, it becomes necessary to control and regulate the air flow in the vicinity of the measuring device (ie, in the vicinity of the optical cells). One of the most effective and simplest solutions that provide the necessary measurement accuracy for continuous determination of the concentrations of exhaled air components will be forced deturbulization of the passing air flow.
In aerodynamics, a method is known for damping turbulent disturbances in the wind tunnel channel by installing a lattice structure - a honeycomb. With a high degree of flow turbulence in the wind tunnel behind the honeycomb and before the test model, deturbulizing grids with different cell widths can be additionally installed. The use of a deturbulent grid contributes to the destruction of vortices with their subsequent degeneration [Repik E.U., Sosedko Yu.P. Development of deturbulent grids with low hydraulic resistance for wind tunnels // Uchenye zapiski TsAGI. - 2011. - Volume 42, No. 3. - S. 84-91]. However, it should be noted that in the aerodynamic experiment these methods are mainly used for high-speed flows. At the same time, in aerodynamic installations, the accelerated flow has a constant flow velocity and density, and vortex flows arise either when passing through the devices of the working circuit of the wind tunnel, or when the operating mode of the installation changes, or when flowing around the model under study, which can be calculated using methods known in aerodynamics.
The air flow exhaled by a person is non-stationary due to the fact that the volume of exhaled air and the exhalation rate can change arbitrarily within a fairly short time. As a consequence, it is sufficiently turbulent. At the same time, the volume of the flow of exhaled air, its speed and pressure difference are extremely low compared to similar characteristics in wind tunnels. Since the diameter of the exhalation line of the breathing mask has a small channel size at a low flow rate, we can use the similarity criteria used in aerodynamics and, accordingly, the known methods of deturbulence. However, the use of only dividing nets and honeycomb traditional for classical aerodynamics seems to be ineffective in achieving the required effect of deturbulization of the exhaled air flow. In turn, the use of meshes with a small cell size, effective for deturbulizing a flow with a small overpressure, due to the low flow rate of exhaled air, can significantly increase the aerodynamic drag and create a blocking effect.
Hence, it becomes necessary to use additional devices in the exhalation line, similar to those that are also used in wind tunnels to damp vortices. Such a device is a special perforated damper, which makes it possible to maintain the effect of straightening (deturbulization) of the flow at low speeds and pressures without its complete blocking and significant aerodynamic resistance. The set of apertures of the perforated damper is located in such a way that the gas jets, when exiting them, pass in a deturbulent manner perpendicular to the laser beams traveling in the optical cells from the emitter to the receiver.
To adjust the aerodynamic characteristics of the flow of exhaled air, the perforated flap can be equipped with a swivel mechanism that operates on the principle of a throttle. The shutter is rotated in such a way as not to block the optical path of the laser beam from the emitter to the receiver. The damper can also have a wide swing angle (up to 90°) so that it can be rotated if necessary, incl. parallel to the direction of flow, and thus be able to neutralize its influence on the characteristics of the air flow.
In this case, in addition to a common perforated damper installed in front of a set of optical cells, it is possible to install a unique perforated throttle damper in front of each optical cell from a set of cells. The location of the dampers should ensure that each other works smoothly.
Also, to deturbulize the flow of exhaled air during the passage of the optical cell, it is possible to install one fixed damper both before and after the optical cell. The fixed shutters have coaxial holes of the same shape and size, and the distance between the shutters can be minimized to the thickness of the laser beam to ensure the laminar characteristics of the jets when passing through the optical cell. Shutters can also have design features that allow them to be installed directly on the edges of an optical cell of any geometric dimensions, while maintaining the necessary gap between them to prevent overlapping of the optical path of the beam. Also, these dampers can be equipped with perforated shutters located directly on the damper and rotating around its axis, located on the plane of the damper perpendicular to it. The perforation pattern on the curtain is the same as the perforation pattern on the damper. Correction factors that take into account the movement of air in the gap between the plates and when turning the shutters are calculated using well-known aerodynamic formulas.
The perforation scheme is chosen in such a way that the damper creates the minimum possible aerodynamic resistance while achieving the best flow deturbulence.
The claimed technical result is achieved by the fact that the method of analyzing dynamic gaseous media is implemented through continuous analysis of the passing flow of the gas mixture over the entire cross-sectional area of the exhalation line of the breathing mask without sampling or additional outlet cuvettes. This approach allows, through the use of the method of absorption laser spectroscopy, various combinations of additional measuring devices (a complex of pressure and humidity sensors) and a control system for the gas-dynamic characteristics of the flow, to work with gas mixtures of arbitrary flow and humidity, as well as various origins and compositions.
The implementation of the method for analyzing dynamic gaseous media consists in providing the possibility of continuous measurements for a long time and the output of measurement results in real time by comparing the volume of the gas mixture that has passed through the section of the segmented element and the loss of radiation intensity in this volume. The method is based on conjugation of two scientific areas - absorption laser spectroscopy and gas dynamics. The implementation of the principles of absorption laser spectroscopy is provided by the optical cells described above. In turn, the implementation of the principles of gas dynamics is provided by perforated dampers, as well as a complex of pressure and humidity sensors.
To prevent contamination of optical elements, it is possible to equip the device with an additional replaceable membrane filter installed in front of the first perforated damper in the air flow path at the beginning of the air line.

In addition, the device can be used in conjunction with various systems for monitoring the condition and emergency assistance for long-term use (wearing).
The proposed device can be configured to be used both in on-board control and life support systems, and in similar mobile systems. The achievement of the specified technical result is possible due to the compactness and small weight and size characteristics of the device, which allows it to be integrated into various existing or developed stationary or mobile complexes for the extraction and analysis of the exhaled gas mixture in real time.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK AND APPLICABILITY
The analyzer of dynamic gas mixtures, built into the exhalation line of the breathing mask, works as follows. The exhaled air passing through the expiratory line (1) as a gas mixture enters the section of the line where one or more optical cells (2), as well as a complex of pressure and humidity sensors, are installed as a continuous data acquisition system. In this section, the spectral and gas-dynamic characteristics of the gas mixture are taken. In the optical cell (2), the radiation from the emitter based on the laser (3) passes through the analyzed gas mixture, being repeatedly reflected from the light-reflecting surface, and enters the receiver (4). After that, the signal is transmitted from the receiver via the information highway, or via a wireless communication channel, through the signal converter to the control unit connected to the information processing unit, where the received signal is decoded and interpreted. The device provides for the installation of a humidity sensor and at least two pairs of pressure sensors: one at the site where the mixture enters the zone of spectral measurements, and the other pairs after and, possibly, between the optical cells, which makes it possible to obtain information about the volumes of the gas mixture passing in the line, concentration of determined components in real time, regardless of pressure drops in the expiratory line. Removal and transmission of information from pressure and humidity sensors, which are necessary for the implementation of the method for analyzing dynamic gaseous media, including quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics of the gas mixture passing through the main, is similar to the removal of information from optical cells.
This device can be used both independently and together with the system for monitoring and regulating the components of the incoming respiratory gas mixture to provide feedback in the scheme: object (patient) - respiratory mixture regulator - gas analyzer.
Due to the presence of a significant non-uniformity of the flow of exhaled air (turbulence or unsteady flow of the gas mixture), a perforated damper is installed in the air line in front of the optical cell to equalize (deturbulize) it. An uneven flow passing through the air line passes through a perforated damper (5), as a result of which it deturbulizes, and enters the zone with an optical cell or a set of optical cells, where the spectral characteristics of the studied components of the gas mixture are taken, as well as the gas-dynamic characteristics are taken using a set of pressure and humidity sensors. The size, shape, and location of the holes are selected in accordance with the shape of the optical cell and in such a way that the gas jets pass perpendicular to the laser beam, and the aerodynamic drag is minimal. This approach makes it possible to increase the accuracy of measurements and not to miss even single molecules in the determination of trace amounts of an analyte.
(6).To prevent contamination of the optical elements, the air flow passes through a replaceable membrane filter (6).
Adjustment of the aerodynamic characteristics of the flow of exhaled air in the device is performed by turning the perforated flap (5), which can be equipped with a turning mechanism that operates on the principle of a throttle. In this case, the shutter is rotated in such a way as not to block the optical path of the laser beam from the emitter to the receiver. This kind of damper can be installed both in front of a group of optical cells, or be unique and located in front of each optical cell separately to regulate individual sections of the air flow. The dampers can be controlled both manually and automatically.
Also, to deturbulize the flow of exhaled air during the passage of the optical cell, one fixed perforated shutter can be installed both directly in front (7) and behind (8) of the optical cell (2). The two shutters have coaxial holes of the same shape and size, and the distance between the shutters can be minimized to the thickness of the laser beam to ensure laminar characteristics of the jets when passing through the optical cell. Shutters can also have design features that allow them to be installed directly on the edges of an optical cell of any geometric dimensions, while maintaining the necessary gap between them to prevent overlapping of the optical path of the beam. Correction factors that take into account the movement of air in the gap between the plates are calculated using the known aerodynamic formulas for calculating the near-wall effect. Also, these shutters can be equipped with perforated shutters that rotate around their axis and thus regulate the flow of air into / out of the optical cell, and the perforation pattern on the shutter coincides with the perforation pattern on the damper. The perforated shutters can be controlled both in manual and automatic mode, and when working with pressure sensors, the shutters can be rotated so as to prevent the reverse flow of the gas mixture in the air line at the inhalation stage without any difficulty at the subsequent exhalation stage.
