Abstract
Description
The proposed invention relates to rocketry, namely, to the design of the rocket engine nozzle. A flexible nozzle attachment is docked to the end face of the stationary part of the nozzle, made of rigid power and heat-erosion-resistant elements, and provides a reduction in the longitudinal overall dimensions of the nozzle in the initial folded transport position, and in the working unfolded position of the nozzle thrust with a large expansion.
Known designs of nozzles with flexible nozzles (US patents No. 3933310 class 239-265.43, No. 4426038 class 239-265.15, RF class F02K 9/97 No. 2647022), in which the nozzle nozzle is docked to the stationary part of the nozzle and is made in the form of a fabric flexible shell made of refractory fibers (carbon, quartz), covered with heat-resistant fiber. The inner surface of the flexible nozzle, facing the flow of combustion products, is formed by bunches of pile from carbon or quartz filaments. The closest, selected as the Prototype, is a nozzle design with a flexible nozzle head, known from US patent No. 4426038 class. 239-265.43. The flexible nozzle attachment, docked to the rigid stationary part of the nozzle, is made of heat-resistant fiber bonded to a fabric sheath made of refractory carbon or quartz fibers. For additional protection from the thermal erosion effect of the combustion products of solid fuel, bunches of pile made of carbon, graphite or quartz are used on the inner surface. In the non-working transport position, the flexible nozzle is located above the outer surface of the stationary part of the nozzle. The extension of the nozzle into the working position can be carried out by any known methods.
The disadvantage of the known design is the insufficient protection of the flexible nozzle material from the thermal and erosion effects of solid fuel combustion products.
The objective of the present invention is to improve the protection of the flexible nozzle attachment from the impact of the flow of high-temperature fuel combustion products throughout the entire operation time of the rocket engine.
The solution to this problem is achieved by the fact that in the known nozzle with a flexible nozzle nozzle on the inner side of the flexible shell there is a pile layer, the free ends of the filaments of the pile are directed downstream along the wall of the nozzle towards the outlet section of the nozzle, and the height of the protrusion of the threads relative to the inner surface of the stationary part of the nozzle is not exceeds the thickness of the boundary layer of the flow of combustion products, which reduces the impact on the pile layer. The sublimation material located in the pile layer, for example, in the form of a coating on a flexible casing, through which the pile threads pass, protects the casing from thermal destruction.

FIG. 2 shows a rocket engine nozzle with a flexible nozzle attachment in a deployed operating position.
FIG. 3, 4 show the structure of the wall of the flexible nozzle attachment.
A nozzle with a flexible nozzle nozzle consists of a stationary part (1), and a flexible nozzle nozzle (2) attached to it, containing a flexible shell (3), on the inner side of the shell there is a flexible sublimating material (5) through which threads of pile from heat erosion-resistant material (6) directed along the wall of the nozzle towards the outlet section of the nozzle, and the height Δ of the protrusion of the threads relative to the inner surface of the stationary part of the nozzle does not exceed the size δ T of the thickness of the turbulent boundary layer in the section where the flexible nozzle is joined with the stationary part of the nozzle.
On the outer side of the shell of the flexible nozzle, in the places of the expected bend, there are ring elements (4) of the frame, which do not prevent the flexible nozzle from rolling into the transport position.
The flexible shell, for example, made of heat-resistant rubber, is made sealed, which is necessary to reduce the specific impulse losses. The cover is the basis of the wall of the nozzle and can serve to fix the pile threads. The annular elements located on the outer side of the shell play the role of local frames and do not significantly distort the profile of the flexible nozzle under the action of internal static pressure during engine operation. The arrangement of these frames in the circumferential direction allows the flexible attachment to be folded relative to them into the initial transport position. These frames can be made, for example, of carbon-carbon material or high modulus material of the CBM type.
The inner side of the shell is a pile layer, the free ends of the threads of which are directed along the flow along the wall of the nozzle towards the outlet section of the nozzle nozzle. The height of the protrusion Δ of the threads relative to the inner surface of the stationary part of the nozzle should be less than the thickness of the turbulent boundary layer δ T in the joint section. These measures are intended to reduce the impact on the pile layer of the flow of combustion products, which has a lower velocity V in the boundary layer. The threads can be made in the form of bundles of carbon or silica fibers. The direction of the threads towards the outlet section of the nozzle allows them to increase their length while maintaining the size Δ. The heat flow predominantly spreads along the filaments; therefore, the indicated direction of the filaments makes it possible to increase the time for the onset of sublimation of the material.
М. 1961 г.)The height Δ of the protrusion of the threads into the flow of combustion products is assigned based on the calculation of the thickness of the turbulent boundary layer δ T in the section of the joint of the flexible nozzle (for example, A.P. Melnikov. Aerodynamics of high speeds. M. Military Publishing. 1961)
где X - расстояние от критического сечения до места стыка насадка;where X is the distance from the throat to the nozzle junction;
V - скорость газового потока;V is the gas flow rate;
ν - кинематический коэффициент вязкости газа.ν - kinematic coefficient of gas viscosity.
According to the calculations for the nozzles of large solid propellant rocket motors δ T = 13 ... 18 mm.
The filaments of the pile at their base pass through a layer of sublimating material, for example, based on ammonium salts, the task of which is to protect the hermetic shell from thermal destruction. The sublimation temperature is determined by the temperature of thermal destruction of the shell. This material should not interfere with the folding and unfolding of the flexible shell, i.e. must have great deformability.
The sublimation material can also be applied to the pile filaments or made as separate ones.
Flexible nozzle works as follows. After receiving the command to bring the flexible nozzle nozzle (2) from the transport to the working position, special devices move the nozzles apart. After the engine is turned on, the combustion products fill the nozzle, and the supersonic flow flows around the nozzle walls. When flowing around the walls of the nozzle, a boundary layer is formed, which acts on the protruding part of the pile layer formed by heat-erosion-resistant threads (6). By limiting the protrusion of the filaments and their orientation along the wall of the nozzle towards the outlet section, weak disturbances arise when interacting with a flow having a lower velocity V, as a result of which the filaments remain longer without being exposed to erosion. As it warms up, the heat flux enters along the filaments towards the inner wall of the shell. Upon reaching a temperature sufficient to sublimate the material (5), the sublimation products pass between the threads and enter the stream of combustion products. As a result, the sublimating material protects the shell (3) from thermal effects and destruction, preventing the temperature of the inner surface of the shell from rising above the sublimation temperature.
The proposed invention makes it possible to increase the protection of the flexible nozzle attachment from the thermal-erosion effect of the flow of high-temperature fuel combustion products throughout the entire operation time of the rocket engine.
