Abstract
Description
The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, in particular to the production of dispersed ferrosilicon powder - a weighting agent by spraying a liquid melt.
[1-3].Spraying of melts in the production of metal powders has been used since the 50s of the last century. Known technical solutions related to technologies, as well as installations for spraying metals and designs of spray nozzles when using gases or water as energy carriers [1-3].
Known technical solutions for the dispersion of melts differ in the methods and parameters of the effect on the melt of gas and water flows in order to meet the various requirements for materials (particle size distribution, particle shape, density, etc.), depending on the purpose of the further use of the product.
The production of dispersed powders of ferroalloys has its own physicochemical characteristics and, taking into account the ever-increasing requirements for such powders, the improvement of the known technical solutions is required. This applies, in particular, to low-percentage ferrosilicon powders (13-17 wt.% Silicon), used as a weighting agent in mineral processing. The properties of powdered ferrosilicon, such as the fractional composition, the ratio of fractions, and the relative density (specific gravity of the weighting agent) play an important role in achieving the required characteristics of a heavy suspension and ensuring the efficiency of beneficiation [4]. Additional positive properties of ferrosilicon powders include the maximum fraction of globular particles, as well as high bulk density values.
Known methods of centrifugal atomization to obtain a ferroalloy powder [5], in particular option 1: a thin stream of metal (diameter 6-8 mm) flows out of the nozzle, is carried away by water supplied under pressure to a rotating disk, where the jet is sprayed using special legs -nozzle or option 2: water flowing out of the cone-shaped ring under a pressure of 3.5-4 atm takes the shape of a funnel, inside which a metal stream passes, while the rotation speed of the disk for crushing the metal stream is 2800-4000 rpm.
The disadvantages of these centrifugal spraying methods are the complexity of the design with a rotating disc, adhesion of metal to the disc, and the need for frequent disc replacement.
Known methods of spraying melts, including ferroalloys, when the destruction of a stream of liquid metal is carried out due to the kinetic energy of air, inert gas, steam or water [5], while air is supplied at a pressure of at least 5 atm. from nozzles located at an angle of 60 ° with respect to the jet axis. The speed of air exit from the nozzles is about 380 m / s. Alternatively, water is supplied to the spray chamber from a rotating annular 16-hole water nozzle. The flow rate of water is 90-150 m / s, the rotation speed of the nozzle is 6000 rpm.
The disadvantages of these methods is the instability of obtaining the characteristics required for ferrosilicon in terms of particle size and globularity.
В основе технологии лежит саморассыпание силикокальция за счет внутренних напряжений при взаимодействии фосфида кальция, выделяющихся по границам зерен, с влагой (водой или паром).There is a known method of obtaining powdered high-percentage silicocalcium [6], according to which phosphorus is introduced into the silicocalcium melt at the outlet in an amount of 0.2-0.3 wt.%, The ingots are kept before cooling at 1000-1050 ° C for 6-8 hours , and ingots are processed with water or steam. The technology is based on the self-scattering of silicocalcium due to internal stresses during the interaction of calcium phosphide released along the grain boundaries with moisture (water or steam).
The disadvantage of this method is its inapplicability to obtaining a conditioned low-percentage powder of ferrosilicon.
The closest in the technology object (low-percentage ferrosilicon), technical essence and the achieved results are patent SU No. 1740112 A2 [7], which is an improvement of the basic invention - USSR inventor's certificate No. 172853 [8]. The method consists in the fact that a melt of a given chemical composition is heated in the range of 1550-1650 ° C and poured through a siliconized glass with a calibrated hole, preheated to maintain optimal temperature conditions for spraying up to a temperature of 1000 ° C, while ensuring a constant metal consumption, spraying is carried out at air supply through a slot nozzle under a pressure of 3.5-5.0 MPa, followed by sprinkling and separation of particles by size.
The disadvantages of this method are the relatively low yield of the fraction required for the product -
In the proposed invention, the task is set when spraying a melt of low-percentage ferrosilicon - a weighting agent, to obtain a proportion of particles with a size of
This goal is achieved by the fact that in the method for producing dispersed ferrosilicon powder, including smelting ferrosilicon of a given chemical composition in an electric furnace using steel chips and (or) scrap, branded ferrosilicon as charge components, feeding the melt into the spraying chamber through a calibrated hole, dispersing the outgoing jet of the melt under the pressure of energy carriers, before the melt is discharged, a sulfur-containing material is introduced into it based on the production of sulfur in the melt in an amount of 0.15-0.25 wt.%, and the melt is dispersed using at least two flat-flame nozzles located opposite to each other, through which, at an angle of inclination of 15-17 degrees with respect to the axis of the metal jet emanating from the calibrated hole, water heated to 40-100 ° C is supplied at a pressure of 30-50 MPA and a water flow rate of 40-120 l / min for each nozzle. In this case, ferrosulfur or sulfur-containing ferrosilicon is used as the sulfur-containing material.
The introduction of sulfur into the ferrosilicon-weighting melt is due to the following. It is known that sulfur helps to reduce the surface tension of metal melts, in particular ferroalloys. Under these conditions, under dynamic action on the melt stream, conditions are created for obtaining smaller particles of the product. On the other hand, surface tension affects the formation of the resulting particles, and the higher the surface tension, the more favorable the conditions for the globularization of particles. These two factors were taken into account in the development of the claimed method. Physicochemical calculations applied to a specific melt of low-percentage ferrosilicon were used to select the range of sulfur introduction into the melt in an amount of 0.15-0.25 wt.%. In this case, the introduction of sulfur in an amount of less than 0.15 wt.% Does not provide effective conditions for the proper dynamic grinding of the melt jet. With the introduction of more than 0.25 wt% sulfur, while maintaining the grinding effect, the factor of an increase in the number of irregular particles appears.
To disperse a stream of metal flowing out of a calibrated hole, flat-spray nozzles are used in the spray chamber, taking into account their characteristics and advantages over other types of devices. To maintain the symmetry of the process, the number of such nozzles should be at least two. A larger number is possible if they are evenly spaced to each other in the horizontal plane.
The angle of supply of the energy carrier through these nozzles with respect to the axis of the melt flowing out of the calibrated hole is 15-17 degrees and is determined empirically, taking into account the dynamics of dispersion and the required quality of the finished product.
In the process of spraying the melt through the nozzles, water heated to 40-100 ° C was used, which is associated with the influence of this factor on the bulk density of the product. Experiments have established a direct relationship between the growth of the bulk density of the finished product with increasing water heating. In this case, the lower threshold of the desired bulk density is obtained when the water is heated to 40 ° C. The upper limit for water heating is set at 100 ° C, since further superheating of water requires sophisticated equipment and special permits for the operation of installations.
When choosing the range of pressures of the supplied heated water of 30-50 MPa, a direct dependence was established of the increase in the yield in the finished product of the required
Examples of specific implementation
Содержание серы варьировалось в пределах 0,05-0,26 мас.%.In an electric induction furnace, a charge consisting of iron chips and branded ferrosilicon FS 65 was melted. Before tapping into the melt (except for comparative melting), ferrosulfur or sulfur-containing ferrosilicon was introduced to increase the sulfur content in the metal. As a result, a low-percentage ferrosilicon was obtained - a weighting agent of the following composition, wt%: silicon - 15-17; manganese, carbon and phosphorus, not more than 1.5, respectively; 1.5 and 0.15. The sulfur content varied in the range of 0.05-0.26 wt.%.
