Abstract
Description
ч. The invention relates to the field of instrumentation and can be used for measuring the level of liquid fuels and liquefied gases, incl. in non-stationary objects.
Known fluid level sensors for a vehicle tank containing a float, a magnet installed therein, lower and upper float travel stops, a vertical guide tube, inside which the reed switches are located, and an electrical connector.
2284481).An example is a liquid level sensor for a vehicle tank (RF patent No. 2284481).
However, such a device is fire hazardous due to the presence of electrical circuits, in fact, in the tank of the vehicle, and is not always reliable, because in the signal wires, pickups can occur - both from their own power networks, and from external electromagnetic radiation. The disadvantages also include bouncing of reed switch contacts, fragility of a glass cylinder and high sensitivity to external magnetic fields.
Known fiber-optic liquid level sensors, devoid of these disadvantages. An example is a fiber-optic liquid level indicator (RF patent No. 2297602), which uses the effect of reflection at the interface between glass and air. Part of the optical signal from the emitter supplied to the measured capacitance by the optical fiber is reflected at the interface and returns through the optical fiber to the photodetector. When the liquid level rises to the sensor part of the sensor, glass and liquid become the interface between the media, the refractive indices of which are close. The level of the return signal drops sharply and the difference is fixed.
However, such sensors are inoperable in opaque media and in viscous media, for example, in fuel oil, in supercooled diesel fuel, when films freeze on the sensor part of such sensors or droplets of a thickened liquid are formed.
The purpose of the invention is to create a reliable fireproof and noise-immune sensor for a wide range of measured liquids, including viscous and opaque.
This is achieved by the fact that, in the proposed sensor, the optical fiber located outside the container with the liquid is separated from the float by a sealed non-magnetic partition, on opposite sides of which there are ferromagnetic elements, and at least one of them is a permanent magnet and at least one is connected to the float, the end of the optical fiber optically coupled with an element having a reflective surface, with the possibility of their mutual displacement, while the ferromagnetic element outside the container is mechanically coupled with one of the elements of the "light guide - reflective element" pair.
Execution options:

Outside the container, there is a spring element connected to at least one of the elements of the pair "light guide - reflective element"
Opposite the reflecting surface there is one transmitting-receiving light guide, the opposite end of which is docked with an optical splitter, or two light guides - transmitting and receiving.
Light guides, single or paired, coupled with elements having a reflective surface, with the possibility of their mutual displacement, are distributed along the height of the container according to the number of reference points.
The frame of the movable light guide is made of a ferromagnetic material, or the reflecting surface is located on the movable ferromagnetic element.
FIG. 1 shows the placement of parts of one of the design options for the level gauge, the limit level sensor.
FIG. 2 shows an optical diagram of a limit level sensor using one optical fiber and a splitter.
FIG. 3 shows an optical diagram of a limit level sensor using two optical fibers.
1. 10.FIG. 1. The sensor contains a float 1 mounted for rotation around a horizontal axis. A
10.The limit level sensor works as follows: when the liquid level rises, the float 1 floats up, and the
2. 15.FIG. 2. An optical scheme based on a splitter and a transceiving light guide: an emitter 11 (for example, an LED or a laser diode), a transmitting
3. 15.FIG. 3. An optical scheme based on two optical fibers: an emitter 11 (for example, an LED or a laser diode), a transmitting
Installation of two (for example, parallel) optical fibers in such a scheme reduces the level of the reflected signal due to the mismatch of their optical axes, but makes it possible to abandon the splitter in the optical scheme.
The considered analogs work only in the "yes-no" mode, fixing either the contact of the optical surface with the liquid, or the moment the reed switch is triggered. In contrast to them, the power of the optical signal in the proposed scheme changes as the floating float with a magnet approaches the reflector, which is a super-effect that allows, by simply multiplying the proposed scheme, to turn the limit sensor into a level gauge with a constant signal pickup as the liquid level changes.
The proposed design makes it possible to increase the fire safety and reliability of the liquid level sensor by replacing the electrical signal with an optical one both in the tank with fuel itself and all the way to the transceiver unit.
