Abstract
Description
The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, and in particular to methods of purification of technical silicon.
Technical silicon is obtained by carbothermic reduction of mineral raw materials, quartz or quartzite in electric furnaces. In the process of reducing smelting, in addition to the leading silicon element, other elements are also restored, which are impurities in the mineral raw materials and are part of the reductant ash. All recovered elements, overwhelmingly, worsen the quality of technical silicon (Yolkin KS, Zelberg B.I. et al. Silicon production. Metallurgist Handbook, St. Petersburg, MANEB, 2013, 364 pp.). Increased requirements for high-quality aluminum alloys, in which silicon is the main alloying element, limit the phosphorus content in silicon and force silicon manufacturers to develop phosphorus removal technologies.
A known method of refining a silicon melt (SU 835063, С01В 33/02, publ. 07/27/1996), including the processing of the melt with a flux consisting of SiO 2 , NaF, Al 2 O 3 , CaO, while blowing the melt through a graphite tube with oxygen . The disadvantage of this method of refining silicon is the low degree of removal of aluminum and calcium. In this case, the phosphorus content in silicon remains the same.
A known method of purification of metallurgical silicon moistened by an alternating current plasma in vacuum (RU 2465202, C30B 29/06, publ. 12/27/2012). The method includes heating the silicon in a crucible to obtain a melt and treating the melt with a plasma torch directed at an acute angle to the surface containing inert gas and water vapor, while heating and melting the crude silicon is carried out in a cylindrical quartz crucible in a vacuum using a graphite heater. The technical result is aimed at obtaining from metallurgical silicon with a purity of 98-99.9% an ingot of polycrystalline silicon of a purity of 99.9999%, with a phosphorus content of not more than 0.1 ppm, boron from 0.1 to 1 ppm, suitable for the manufacture of photoconverters in an industrial way. The disadvantage of this method is the complexity of the hardware design of the process and the high cost of purification of silicon from phosphorus to small values, which is not required in the production of technical silicon.
A known method of smelting silicon (RU 2082783, C01B 33/00, C22B 5/02, publ. 06/27/97), for which when releasing silicon into the ladle or mold in liquid silicon, alkali metal chlorides are introduced in an amount that depends on the mass produced silicon. After crushing the silicon ingots, the silicon pieces are washed with water. The disadvantage of this method is the insufficiently effective purification of silicon from impurities.
Close in technical essence is the method of refining silicon and its alloys (patent RU 2146650, C01B 33/037, publ. 20.03.2000), including the processing of the melt in the ladle in the presence of flux, which includes pure silica sand, lime and / or fluorine feldspar, the melt processing is carried out in two stages: at the first stage, the melt is blown with a mixture of oxygen with air and / or inert gas in the process of pouring the melt from the furnace into the ladle until it is filled with a continuous and uniform supply of flux to the surface of the melt, in the second stage after fill eniya ladle the melt is treated with air and / or inert gas until the temperature of the melt in the ladle 1450-1550 ° C, and a melt purge gas is carried through the porous part of the ladle bottom.
The disadvantage of this method is that with this method there is no decrease in the phosphorus content.
0,0020%.The basis of the invention is a task aimed at improving the quality of technical silicon obtained by reduction smelting in ore-thermal furnaces. In this case, the technical result is a decrease in the phosphorus content in silicon to a content of less than 0.0020%.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method of purification of technical silicon, including the processing of the melt in the ladle in the presence of a flux with oxidizing gases, it is new that sodium bicarbonate mixed with limestone is used as a flux in a ratio of 1: 1 in the amount of 6-11% of the mass of silicon in the bucket, loading 45-60% of the flux before the release of silicon from the furnace, the rest is loaded into the bucket as it is filled, the melt is processed at a temperature of silicon above 1600 ° C.
The method is as follows. Before filling it with silicon, a flux consisting of sodium bicarbonate and limestone is loaded into the bucket, which can oxidize and / or transfer the phosphorus in the molten silicon to a gaseous state, then silicon is released into the bucket. As the bucket is filled, an additional amount of flux is introduced into the melt. Purging silicon in the bucket with oxidizing gases is carried out all the time while silicon is in the bucket. Due to the heat of silicon, sodium bicarbonate decomposes
и окисление фосфора реакцииand oxidation of phosphorus reactions
Gaseous pH 3 is removed to a gas treatment plant, and P 2 O 3 passes into slag, where it interacts with CaO formed from the decomposition of limestone, forming a strong chemical compound.
In the production of silicon in an industrial furnace, experimental purification of silicon from phosphorus was carried out.

- соотношение, мас.%: бикарбонат натрия 20%, известняк 80%; исходное содержание фосфора 0,0028%, после рафинирования 0,0025%;- ratio, wt.%: sodium bicarbonate 20%, limestone 80%; initial phosphorus content of 0.0028%, after refining of 0.0025%;
- соотношение, мас.%: бикарбонат натрия 40%, известняк 60%; исходное содержание фосфора 0,0024%), после рафинирования 0,0022%;- ratio, wt.%: sodium bicarbonate 40%, limestone 60%; initial phosphorus content 0.0024%), after refining 0.0022%;
- соотношение, мас.%: бикарбонат натрия 50%, известняк 50%; исходное содержание фосфора 0,0026%, после рафинирования 0,0020%;- ratio, wt.%: sodium bicarbonate 50%, limestone 50%; initial phosphorus content of 0.0026%, after refining of 0.0020%;
- соотношение, мас.%: бикарбонат натрия 60%, известняк 40%; исходное содержание фосфора 0,0025%, после рафинирования 0,0021%;- ratio, wt.%: sodium bicarbonate 60%, limestone 40%; initial phosphorus content of 0.0025%, after refining of 0.0021%;
