Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the preparation and regeneration of zeolite catalysts after their deactivation as a result of coking in the hydroxylation reactions of aromatic compounds with nitrous oxide in the gas phase, in particular in the hydroxylation reactions of benzene and phenol.
Г., RU 2010790, 15.04.1994].It is known that iron-containing zeolites of the pentasil type (MFI and MEL) are effective catalysts for the gas-phase hydroxylation of aromatic compounds using nitrous oxide as an oxidizing agent [Kharitonov AS, Romannikov VN, Sheveleva GA, Sobolev VI , Panov G.I., Ione K.G., RU 2010790, 04/15/1994].
Direct hydroxylation of aromatics to their corresponding phenols catalysed by H-[AL]ZSM-5 zeolite // J. Molec. Catal. A: Chemical V. 136, 1998, p. 175-184; Иванов Д.П., Родкин M.A., Дубков К. И. 850-854; Ivanov D.P., Sobolev V.I., Panov G.I. Deactivation by coking and regeneration of zeolite catalysts for benzene-to-phenol oxidation // Appl Catal A 2003, v. 241, p. 113-121].Similar to other gas-phase reactions on zeolites, during the hydroxylation of nitrous oxide, a gradual decrease in the activity and selectivity of the catalyst occurs, which is associated with coke formation processes [Motz J.L., Heinichen N., Holderich W.F. Direct hydroxylation of aromatics to their corresponding phenols catalysed by H- [AL] ZSM-5 zeolite // J. Molec. Catal. A: Chemical V. 136, 1998, p. 175-184; Ivanov D.P., Rodkin M.A., Dubkov K.A., Kharitonov A.S., Panov G.I. The mechanism of the influence of coke on the catalytic activity of FeZSM-5 in the reaction of the oxidation of benzene to phenol // Kinetika i Kataliz, 2000, v. 41, No. 6, p. 850-854; Ivanov D.P., Sobolev V.I., Panov G.I. Deactivation by coking and regeneration of zeolite catalysts for benzene-to-phenol oxidation // Appl Catal A 2003, v. 241, p. 113-121].
% кислорода [Moljord K., Magnoux P., Guisnet М. Coking, aging and regeneration of zeolites. XVI. Influence of the composition of HY zeolites on the removal of coke through oxidative treatment. // Appl. Catal. A. V. 121, 1995, р. 245-259]. The deactivation of zeolite catalysts due to coke formation is reversible, i.e. catalytic activity can be restored by removal of coke. Oxidation treatment in air or in an inert gas with the addition of oxygen is usually used. To reduce the heating of the catalyst layer due to exothermic reactions occurring during the oxidation of coke, the industry uses heavily diluted inert gas air, less than 1 vol. % oxygen [Moljord K., Magnoux P., Guisnet M. Coking, aging and regeneration of zeolites. Xvi. Influence of the composition of HY zeolites on the removal of coke through oxidative treatment. // Appl. Catal. A. V. 121, 1995, p. 245-259]. In this case, the regeneration proceeds slowly, requires a serious increase in the duration of the technological cycle and, as a result, leads to a decrease in the productivity of the catalyst for the target product.
On the other hand, due to diffusion restrictions, the removal of coke from the porous space of the zeolite is difficult and requires the use of high temperatures (500 ° C and above). Under these conditions, under the influence of water vapor generated during the oxidation of coke deposits, dealumination processes and destruction of the zeolite lattice are possible, which leads to irreversible catalyst deactivation. Thus, reducing the regeneration temperature of zeolite catalysts remains an urgent task. It is necessary to ensure the most complete removal of coke from the microporous space of the zeolite.
Reducing the temperature of catalyst regeneration and increasing its speed is possible in two directions: either by optimizing the technological conditions of the coke burning process, or by modifying the catalysts with special additives that facilitate the coke burning process. Most often, noble and transition metals are used as such additives.
В статье [http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167299108627433 - fn1 L., Chen S., Peng S. A study of the deactivation and regeneration behaviour and related catalytic properties of modified zeolite catalysts // Studies in Surface Science and Catalysis V. 88, 1994, p. 215-222] показано, что введение платины и меди в катализатор крекинга н-гептана на основе цеолита HY позволяет осуществлять регенерацию при более низких температурах, что благоприятно сказывается на увеличении общей продолжительности жизни катализатора. Thus, in the patent [Mohr DH, US 4855269, B01J 29/90, 08/08/1989] it is shown that reforming catalysts based on broad-porous zeolite L containing Group VIII metals (ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, iridium, platinum) are regenerated into softer conditions at lower temperatures than unmodified catalysts. In the article [http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167299108627433 - fn1 L., Chen S., Peng S. A study of the deactivation and regeneration behavior and related catalytic properties of modified zeolite catalysts // Studies in Surface Science and Catalysis V. 88, 1994, p. 215-222] it is shown that the introduction of platinum and copper in the cracking catalyst of n-heptane based on zeolite HY allows regeneration at lower temperatures, which favorably affects the increase in the total life of the catalyst. In addition, it is important that the modifying additives do not adversely affect the catalytic properties.
Modification of catalysts by platinum group metals is an effective way to improve the regeneration parameters of zeolite catalysts of processes such as cracking and reforming.
[Pirutko L.V., Uriarte A.K., Chernyavsky V.S., Kharitonov A.S., Panov G.I. Preparation and catalytic study of metal modified TS-1 in the oxidation of benzene to phenol by N2O // Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, V. 48, 1-3, 2001, P. 345-353]. [Li Y., Armor J. Catalytic decomposition of N2O US 5171553, B01J 8/00; C01B 21/11, 15.12.1992; Chang Y.F., McCarty J.G., Wachsman E.D., Wong V.L. Catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide over Ru-exchanged zeolites // Appl. Catal. В., 1992., V. 4., P. 283; Li Y., Armor J. Catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide on metal exchanged zeolites // Appl. Catal. B., V. 1, 1992, L21-L29]. Regarding the process of hydroxylation of aromatic compounds with nitrous oxide, the use of zeolite catalysts containing transition and noble metals leads to a significant decrease in the selectivity of the conversion of both nitrous oxide and aromatic compounds to the target hydroxylated product [Pirutko LV, Uriarte AK, Chernyavsky VS, Kharitonov AS , Panov GI Preparation and catalytic study of metal modified TS-1 in the oxidation of benzene to phenol by N 2 O // Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, V. 48, 1-3, 2001, P. 345-353]. It is known that zeolites modified with noble and transition metals are effective catalysts for the decomposition of nitrous oxide at 300-400 ° C into simple substances - nitrogen and oxygen [Li Y., Armor J. Catalytic decomposition of N 2 O US 5171553, B01J 8 / 00; C01B 21/11, 12/15/1992; Chang YF, McCarty JG, Wachsman ED, Wong VL Catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide over Ru-exchanged zeolites // Appl. Catal. B., 1992., V. 4., P. 283; Li Y., Armor J. Catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide on metal exchanged zeolites // Appl. Catal. B., V. 1, 1992, L21-L29]. This reaction is a side event in the process of hydroxylation of aromatic compounds with nitrous oxide, and its parallel flow leads to inappropriate consumption of nitrous oxide and, consequently, to a decrease in the selectivity of nitrous oxide conversion into the target product. On the other hand, the presence of oxygen in the reaction mixture (as a result of direct decomposition of nitrous oxide) increases the contribution of the deep oxidation of aromatic compounds, which also reduces the selectivity of the process for the hydroxylated product. Both processes of non-selective consumption of reagents lead to a decrease in the performance of the hydroxylation process. Thus, the automatic transfer of known approaches to facilitate the regeneration of zeolite catalysts is not effective in the case of hydroxylation reactions with nitrous oxide.
[Kharitonov A.S., Panov G.I., Ione K.G., Romannikov V.N., Sheveleva G.A., Vostrikova L.A., Sobolev V.I., Preperation of phenol derivatives US 5110995, C07C 37/60, C07C 46/06, 05.05.1992]. The closest in their technical essence and the achieved effect to the claimed catalyst and the method for its preparation are the hydroxylation catalyst for aromatic compounds described in the patent [Kharitonov AS, Panov GI, Ione KG, Romannikov VN, Sheveleva GA, Vostrikova LA, Sobolev VI, Preperation of phenol derivatives US 5110995, C07C 37/60, C07C 46/06, 05/05/1992]. According to the description of the catalyst is an iron zeolite containing up to 10 mass. % of elements of 2-5 periods of the Periodic Table. Zeolite containing these elements can be molded with a binder or used without a binder. A distinctive feature of these catalysts is that elements of 2-5 periods are part of the zeolite, and are not added after synthesis at the stages of preparation of the molded catalyst. However, the patent does not contain information about the efficiency of regeneration of the catalyst and the degree of restoration of its catalytic properties after regeneration.
The present invention solves the problem of synthesizing a catalyst for the hydroxylation of aromatic compounds with nitrous oxide with improved ability to regenerate.
The proposed solution allows the regeneration of coked zeolite catalyst at an acceptable rate at temperatures of 450-475 ° C in an inert gas medium containing 1-2 vol. % oxygen. In this case, there is no deterioration in the catalytic properties, which are completely restored after the regeneration procedure.
Целесообразность использования рутения обусловлена не только положительным эффектом, но и его многократной дешевизной по сравнению с другими металлами этой группы [http://www.platinum.matthey.com/prices/price-tables].To achieve the claimed effect, the present patent proposes to use a ruthenium-modified catalyst for the hydroxylation of aromatic compounds and describes a method for its synthesis. The expediency of using ruthenium is due not only to the positive effect, but also to its multiple cheapness compared to other metals of this group [http://www.platinum.matthey.com/prices/price-tables].
Thus, the hallmark of the proposed catalyst in comparison with the prototype in that it contains ruthenium in an amount of from 0.01 to 5.0 wt. % introduced into the catalyst by any of the known methods. The synthesis of a catalyst with improved ability to regenerate is carried out by introducing ruthenium at various stages of the preparation of the catalyst, in addition to the synthesis of zeolite.
% [G.I. Panov, A.S. Kharitonov, V.I. Sobolev, "Oxidative hydroxylation using dinitrogen monoxide: a possible route for organic synthesis over zeolites", Appl. Catal. A: General, 1993, v. 98, p. 1-20]. №5672777, С07С 37/60, 1997].Catalysts for the reaction of hydroxylation of aromatic compounds with nitrous oxide are prepared by molding zeolites with a binder, which is used AlPO 4 , Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 or a mixture thereof. The molding material is placed in an extruder and passed through a die of the desired diameter. Granules are cut with an automatic string on a specially prepared pallet. Next, the granules are dried in air for 24 hours and dried at PO C for 12 hours. The active part of the catalyst for the hydroxylation of aromatic compounds with nitrous oxide is a zeolite of the MFI or MEL structure, containing in its composition impurity or specially introduced during the synthesis of zeolite iron in amounts not exceeding 0.1 wt. % [GI Panov, AS Kharitonov, VI Sobolev, "Oxidative hydroxylation using dinitrogen monoxide: a possible route for organic synthesis over zeolites", Appl. Catal. A: General, 1993, v. 98, p. 1-20]. The dried catalyst granules are calcined in a stream of air at 500 ° C, and then activated by treatment with water vapor at temperatures of 500-1000 ° C according to [US Pat. No. 5672777, C07C 37/60, 1997].
%.The proposed method of a ruthenium-modified catalyst consists in impregnating a finished granular catalyst or a semi-finished product, or a zeolite, or a binder, or a mixture of a zeolite with a binder solution of any soluble ruthenium salt. For example, it is possible to use a solution of ruthenium tetrachloride, ruthenium hydrochloride, ruthenyl chloride, complex ruthenium nitrites, ruthenium chloride hexamine and other water-soluble ruthenium compounds. The amount of introduced ruthenium varies in the range: from 0.01 to 5 wt. %, preferably from 0.1 to 0.5 wt. %
