Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of ferrous metallurgy, and in particular to a technology for the production of steel in electric arc furnaces.
A known method of steelmaking in an arc furnace (Povolotsky D.Ya., Gudim Yu.A., Zinurov I.Yu. “Design and operation of heavy-duty steelmaking furnaces”, M. “Metallurgy”, 1990, pp. 93-96) consisting in filling the metal charge, its melting, conducting the oxidation period of melting by blowing the molten metal bath with oxygen through a water-cooled lance, the nozzle section of which is located above the mirror level of the metal bath at a distance of 400-500 mm.
The disadvantages of this method include high metal waste, reaching 8-10% by weight of the metal part of the charge, due to the introduction of oxygen at one point of the melt above the surface of the liquid bath — intense exothermic reactions occur in the area of contact of oxygen with the melt, which form local high-temperature zones where the metal temperature reaches values close to the boiling point of iron (2872 ° C), which is the reason for the intense evaporation (burning) of the metal.
There is a method of steelmaking in an arc furnace (Kablukovsky A.F., Molchanov O.E., Kablukovskaya M.A. “Quick reference electrostalar”, M. “Metallurgy”, 1994, p. 110), in which the oxidative the period is carried out by purging the metal bath with oxygen, introduced under pressure through a vault tuyere with several nozzles, set for the purging period at a distance of 100-200 mm from the surface of the slag, and through metal tubes buried in the melt. The tubes are introduced through the working window and, as their recessed ends are burned, they are moved horizontally into the melt.
The obvious drawback of this analogue is a rather high metal waste and increased oxygen consumption, and due to the fact that the oxygen introduced through the lance blows the surface of the liquid bath, a significant part of it does not have time to react with the elements of the melt and therefore is not used efficiently. A rather high fume of metal is due to the fact that, as in the previous analogue, local high-temperature zones are formed on the surface of the melt, which cause intense evaporation of the metal. In addition, the introduction of oxygen tubes through an open working window is accompanied by knocking out of the furnace gases, which, in turn, leads to additional heat losses, which must be compensated, and to worsening working conditions of the maintenance personnel.
A known method of steelmaking in an arc furnace, which reduces metal waste (RU No. 2132394 C1, 1999), which consists in filling the charge, melting it, conducting an oxidation period by purging the metal with oxygen through two points of the bath, equidistant from the vertical axis of the furnace with a central angle between them of at least 90 °. Oxygen is supplied alternately through each of the purge points with an interval of 10-25 seconds and maintain its constant flow rate. The use of two water-cooled tuyeres for blowing the melt, one of which is introduced through the arch, and the other, for example, through the working window, requires additional maintenance costs, thereby increasing the cost of metal.
The closest analogue (prototype) of the present invention is a method of steel smelting in an arc furnace (RU No. 2309182C1, 2007), which includes filling the charge, its melting, oxidation and reduction periods of smelting and the release of metal from the furnace.
In the prototype, during the oxidation period, the bath is purged with oxygen at several points at once — by means of several uncooled metal tubes buried in the melt, each of which is fed into the furnace through an opening additionally made in the side wall of the furnace using a special mechanism that ensures their movement in two directions: vertical and horizontal, practically, along a curved trajectory, which with insufficiently complete control of the parameters of the deepening of the tubes, including the speed of their immersion in the melt poses a danger of violating the integrity of the lining of the hearth and slopes of the furnace, and knocking out of furnace gases through this hole in the wall leads to a deterioration of the environmental situation in the workshop and is an additional item in the expenditure part of the heat balance of the furnace, requiring compensatory heat consumption. The prototype also has a large flow rate of metal tubes used to supply oxygen, since they are not provided for protection from the effects of high temperatures of the furnace working space and, moreover, the possibilities to reduce metal waste and oxygen consumption are not fully used in it, which increases the cost of a unit of production and thereby reduces the efficiency of its implementation.
The problem solved by the invention is aimed at eliminating these disadvantages of the prototype and improving the efficiency of the method of steelmaking in an arc furnace.
The technical result obtained by the implementation of the invention is to reduce the cost per unit of production by reducing the waste of metal and the specific consumption of oxygen by increasing the total reaction surface of the metal / oxygen and increasing the resistance of metal (oxygen) tubes.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method of steel smelting in an electric arc furnace, including filling the charge, melting it, the oxidative melting period when the furnace is switched off, the metal bath is purged with oxygen introduced at several points through uncooled metal tubes buried in the melt, and the recovery period is carried out according to the invention, the bath is purged through uncooled metal tubes, which are placed inside the hollow electrodes and immersed in metal to a depth equal to 4-7 dia. etram, while the electrodes for the purge period are lowered to the level of the bath mirror, after which the set tube immersion depth throughout the entire purge time is kept constant by moving them vertically inside the hollow electrodes by the amount of melting, and oxygen is supplied to the tubes in a pulsed mode at intervals between feed pulses providing a minimum specific oxygen consumption.
The proposed method of steelmaking is as follows.
The charge is poured into the arc furnace and the furnace is turned on for melting; after melting, the bath is purged with oxygen when the furnace is off, which is supplied in a pulsed mode using tubes placed inside hollow electrodes, whose ends are at the level of the bath mirror during the purge period. The ends of the tubes are immersed in the bath to a depth equal to 4-7 tube diameters (in real conditions this is 200-300 mm). The immersion depth of an uncooled tube through which oxygen is supplied is determined by the following factors. When a tube is buried in a metal bath of less than 4 diameters (under real conditions this will be less than 160-180 mm), a significant part of the oxygen with bubbles will leave the reaction zone due to the high rate of oxygen exit from the nozzle (oxygen is supplied at a pressure of 10-15 atm) and when deepening more than 7 diameters (over 300 mm) due to the fact that the part of the tube exiting the end of the electrode warms up almost instantly to the melt temperature, it will be intensively melted, and this will lead to an increase in its consumption.
During the purge time, most of the length of the tubes is protected from the thermal effect of the furnace atmosphere by the "body" of the electrode and, therefore, from fusion; the tubes inside the hollow electrode are moved vertically to maintain the immersion depth, due to which the oxidative reactions of oxygen with the melt elements occur inside the metal, in the mass of the liquid bath, and, therefore, almost all oxygen (or a significant part of it) is used for decarburization and the heat generated is exothermic carbon oxidation reactions and a number of impurities are absorbed by the entire mass of the melt due to its high thermal conductivity. As a result, with this method of melting, the efficiency of using oxygen increases, its specific consumption and metal waste are reduced, since the probability of the formation of local high-temperature zones on the surface of a liquid bath is eliminated. An increase in the metal / oxygen reaction surface is facilitated by the supply of oxygen in a pulsed mode with gaps between pulses providing a minimum specific oxygen consumption, which is established experimentally. With this mode of oxygen supply, its jet ceases to be a monolithic mass, and is split into individual bubbles. The time gap in the oxygen supply — the pulsed oxidizer supply — ensures that the relatively small oxygen bubbles formed (their diameter is approximately equal to the diameter of the purge tube opening) have great mobility and intensively rush up due to the high pressure of the oxygen supplied, so that the mass of oxygen dissipates into melt. Obviously, the fragmentation of the jet will lead to a sharp increase in the total reaction surface, since the total surface of the resulting small bubbles significantly exceeds the reaction surface of a monolithic oxygen jet. With this method of oxygen supply, the likelihood that most of the oxygen (practically the entire oxidizing agent introduced) will be used increases significantly, and this, in turn, helps to reduce the specific oxygen consumption, increase the rate of decarburization of the metal, and therefore, shorten the purge period, and reducing melting time in general, which ultimately increases the productivity of the furnace. At the end of the oxidation period, the furnace is switched on, the reduction period of the smelting is carried out, and the metal is released from the furnace by conventional technology.
