Description
The invention relates to the field of electronic engineering, in particular to the technology of manufacturing vacuum photoelectronic devices (PECs) containing microchannel plates (MCPs), such as biplanar and inverse electron-optical converters (EOP), photoelectronic multipliers (PMTs) and position-sensitive detectors, and can be used in the manufacture of these devices.
30.05.1991 г.].A known method of manufacturing a vacuum photoelectronic device with a microchannel plate, including the execution in the process of pumping out successive operations of electronic degassing of the microchannel plate by irradiating it with an electron beam from an electron source, while the electron bombardment of the MCP lasts 30-40 hours at an output current of MCP of 20% of the current its conductivity [see A.S. USSR No. 1295953, IPC 5 H01J 9/12, publ. May 30, 1991].
The disadvantages of the analogue are low degassing performance and insufficient cleaning efficiency.
10-11).Closest to the claimed technical solution is a method of electronic degassing of the MCP in the manufacture of a biplanar image intensifier tube in the installation of the final assembly, comprising irradiating the MCP with the input electron stream at given voltages on the MCP and output current (see Abstract of dissertation for the degree of candidate of technical sciences P.I. Konovalova P.I. ., MSTU named after NE Bauman, Moscow, 2010, pp. 10-11).
The disadvantages of the prototype is that the entire process takes place with a constant output current of 2.5 μA maintained constant, which corresponds to the operation of the MCP in saturation mode, the latter leads to the fact that the electron energy in the last stages of reproduction decreases and the probability of desorption of the pollution channels adsorbed by the surface also decreases ; when the voltage on the MCP decreases at a constant output current, the input current decreases, which reduces the rate of gas release of the MCP and, accordingly, degrades the cleaning efficiency, and the input current is not related to the parameters of the vacuum device during operation, which can lead to gas evolution into the cavity of the device, causing a decrease the main parameters of the image intensifier tube, and the voltage supplied to the MCP 710 V is significantly lower than the working and with its increase in the vacuum device will increase the energy of secondary electrons and the depth of their penetration Nia in the bombarded surface, leading to increased gassing during operation of the vacuum device.
Thus, the method of electronic degassing of the MCP described in the prototype does not provide uniform cleaning of the channels along the entire length and does not guarantee compliance with the reliability requirements when operating a vacuum device.
The objective of the proposed technical solution is to increase the productivity and effectiveness of degassing of the MCP to improve parameters and increase the reliability of the vacuum device.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method of electronic degassing of a microchannel plate in the manufacture of vacuum devices, comprising irradiating the MCP with an input electron stream at a given voltage and output current, according to the invention, the electron-beam degassing is carried out in five stages, the first stage is carried out at an input current of 4 · 10 - 9 -8 · 10 -9 A and an output current of 0.05-0.1 from the conductivity current of the MCP; in the second stage, degassing is carried out at a voltage of 1000-1050 V at the MCP with the same input current, in the third stage o reduce the voltage on the MCP every 50-100 V from 1000-1050 V to 650-600 V with a constantly maintained output current of 2.7-3.2 μA, in the fourth stage degassing is carried out at the same output current and input current corresponding to the input current of the maximum operating mode of the vacuum device, at the fifth stage, degassing is carried out at a voltage on the MCP of 1000-1050 V and an output current of 10-12 μA.
This method will increase the productivity and effectiveness of the degassing of the MCP, reduce the residual electronically stimulated gas evolution, improve the signal-to-noise ratio and the reliability of the vacuum device.
At an input current of less than 4 · 10 -9 Α, gas evolution decreases, which leads to a decrease in productivity, and at a current above 8 · 10 -9 A, very intense gas separation occurs, which can lead to a breakdown of the MCP and the screen. The output current ranges of 2.7-3.2 μA and 10-12 μA are selected based on the fact that at lower currents the intensity of gas evolution decreases, and at high currents the input current increases excessively, leading to an unjustified decrease in the gain of the MCP.
The essence of the method is illustrated by graphs, where in FIG. 1 shows the change in gas release of the MCP in the process of degassing according to the claimed method, and in FIG. 2 - according to the prototype, and tables 1, 2, which show the comparative results of the degassing of the MCP according to the claimed method and prototype.
The method of electronic degassing of a microchannel plate in the manufacture of a vacuum device was carried out as follows.
At the first stage, the channels were cleaned at the output current corresponding to the linear mode of operation of the MCP, i.e. set the output current to 0.1 of the conductivity current of the MCP to prevent charging of the channels at the output. In this case, the channels were cleaned along the entire length, mainly of their output sections, since the number of electrons bombarding the output sections in a linear mode was 10 2 -10 3 times more than the number of electrons at the input. At this stage, as given by the second parameter is input current of 5 · 10 -9 A, the magnitude of which is sufficient to cause intense gas evolution, but this did not lead to breakdown during PCR and screen. In this mode, gas evolution rose to a maximum and began to decline.
At the second stage, the voltage on the MCP was raised to 1000 V (the maximum permissible operating voltage limit on the MCP for vacuum devices) in order to increase the desorption of surface-adsorbed substances due to an increase in the energy of secondary electrons between collisions. The input current remained unchanged, the output increased. In this mode, the channels were cleaned and the channels metallized at the maximum secondary electron energy.
In the third stage, to ensure intense gas evolution over the entire duration of the stage, a stepwise voltage reduction was performed on the MCP from 1000 V to 650 V every 50 V at a set output current value of 3 μA. This led to the fact that the input current at each stage increased and, accordingly, gas evolution increased, i.e. the degree of cleaning of the inlet end of the MCP and inlet sections of the channels increased.
At the fourth stage, the maximum inlet end and inlet sections of the channels were cleaned. This was achieved by setting the input current corresponding to the maximum light load provided by the technical documentation for testing and operation of specific vacuum devices.
At the fifth stage, the output metallization was cleaned at the maximum energy of the secondary electrons, the voltage at the MCP of 1000 V and the output current of 10 μA corresponding to the deep saturation mode of the MCP were set. Since the MCP channels are already basically cleaned from surface connections, a sharp decrease in the MCP gain does not occur even with a significant increase in the output current due to an increase in the input current.
The result of electronic degassing is a decrease in the residual electron-stimulated gas emission by an order of magnitude in comparison with the prototype (see tab. 1, 2), which will lead to an improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio and reliability of the vacuum device by reducing the level of bottom feedback.
The electronic degassing of the MCP was carried out sequentially in five stages to clean certain parts of the MCP at each stage so that a constant gas evolution occurred (see Fig. 1), as a result of which the surface of the MCP is cleaned of contaminants more uniformly along the entire length of the channels and more short terms, and binding to the parameters of the operating modes of vacuum devices guarantees a low level of gas separation during their operation.
Using the proposed method will allow, in comparison with the prototype, to increase the productivity and efficiency of degassing of the MCP, which will lead to improved parameters and reliability of the vacuum device.
