Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an aqueous solution intended to protect wood against wood pests and to improve the resistance of wood to biotic and abiotic factors of destruction, respectively.
Copper compounds are widely used to preserve wood in cases when it comes into contact with soil. To improve the fixation of copper compounds, they are mixed with amines and carboxylic acid. To facilitate insecticidal treatment with compounds of this type, boron derivatives are added, and protection against copper resistant isolates is achieved by the addition of quaternary ammonium preparations. Although the composition of copper amines provide a very good fixation in wood, in practice there are certain disadvantages. In the temperate zone of Europe and Asia, pine wood (Picea sp.) And larch (Larix sp.) Are most often used for construction purposes. A problem associated with this type of wood is that water-based protective solutions do not penetrate well into said wood, resulting in a relatively weak impregnation thereof. Moreover, such impregnated wood is very often additionally treated with hydrophobic compositions, which causes serious problems when using existing wood protection compositions.
The wood preservation solution of the present invention provides environmentally sound protection of the wood against the most significant wood rot fungi, including white mold, brown mold and copper resistant isolates. In addition, the resistance of wood protected by the wood preservation solution according to the present invention to insects (e.g., house barbel, Hylotrupes bajulus L.) and termites is greatly increased. On the other hand, said protective solution does not contain chromium and arsenic compounds. To achieve better penetration of the specified solution into the wood using substances that contribute to the swelling of the wood. In this way, a significant improvement in the penetration of the compositions into the wood is achieved, thereby providing better wood protection.
Copper provides protection against the most important fungi causing rotting wood, ethanolamine and carboxylic acid create an acceptable fixation, and the Quaternary ammonium compound and boron provide protection against insects, termites and copper-resistant mushrooms.
Wood protected with the wood preservation solution of the present invention is often further coated with hydrophobic compositions. Due to the addition of hydrophobic active substances to compositions containing copper and amines, the cost-effectiveness of wood protection increases, since the two-stage method of protecting wood is converted into a one-stage one. As a result of this, the effect of the wood preservation composition itself and the economy of the method of protecting wood are greatly increased.
As a result of laboratory studies, the composition of the wood preservation solution according to the present invention was optimized according to two criteria, namely, to reduce the leaching of copper from the solution and to increase the effectiveness against fungi that cause rotting of wood, against insects and termites.

These compounds are well known as insecticides and fungicides. It turned out that the best results are obtained when using sodium octaborate tetrahydrate or boric acid. The combination of these compounds with other ingredients leads to better characteristics, better fixation of copper and better fungicidal activity.
Основываясь на доступности и биологической эффективности для приготовления раствора для защиты древесины, согласно настоящему изобретению был выбран хлорид алкилбензилдиметиламмония.d) Quaternary ammonium compounds are used as a co-biocide to prepare the wood preservation solution according to the present invention. These compounds have been used to protect wood for almost 20 years. In recent years, several mixtures of quaternary ammonium compounds and copper have appeared on sale. The main advantage of this compound lies in its significant fungicidal effect. In addition, these compounds form new complexes with copper, ethanolamine and a quaternary ammonium compound, leading to improved fixation. Based on the availability and biological effectiveness for the preparation of the wood protection solution, alkylbenzyldimethylammonium chloride was selected according to the present invention.
Вымывание меди из указанной защитной композиции, включающей в себя медь, этаноламин и каприловую кислоту, можно сравнить с вымыванием меди из древесины, защищенной с помощью меди-хрома (Таблица 1).e) In order to improve the fixation of copper in said wood preservation solution, carboxylic acids are added to said aqueous solution. To prepare the solution according to the present invention, said carboxylic acid is selected from the group consisting of caproic acid, caprylic acid and capric acid. The best results are obtained by adding caprylic acid to the protective solution. The specified caprylic acid has a hydrophobic effect. In addition, said caprylic acid also has some fungicidal properties. The addition of carboxylic acid to an aqueous solution significantly reduces the leaching of copper. The leaching of copper from the specified protective composition, including copper, ethanolamine and caprylic acid, can be compared to leaching of copper from wood protected by copper-chromium (Table 1).
Для приготовления раствора согласно настоящему изобретению указанный агент, вызывающий набухание древесины, выбирают из группы, представленной гликолями, соединениями аммония, муравьиной кислотой или триэтаноламином.f) In order to ensure the best penetration of said aqueous solution into the wood, according to the present invention, it is contemplated that a wood swelling agent is added to said aqueous solution. To prepare the solution according to the present invention, said wood swelling agent is selected from the group represented by glycols, ammonium compounds, formic acid or triethanolamine.
Активное гидрофобное вещество добавляют в форме водной восковой эмульсии, монтанного воска, полиэтиленовых восков, силанов, силиконов, силоксанов, масел и парафиновых эмульсий.g) In addition, in order to increase the cost-effectiveness of protecting wood, the present invention provides for the addition of hydrophobic substances to said aqueous solution. The active hydrophobic substance is added in the form of an aqueous wax emulsion, montan wax, polyethylene waxes, silanes, silicones, siloxanes, oils and paraffin emulsions.
The ratio between the content of copper and ethanolamine in solution is very important. The specified ratio affects both the cost of the composition and the degree of leaching of copper from wood, respectively.
1:12.The molar ratio of copper: amine for most protective solutions is less than 1:12.
An acceptable molar ratio of mediamine is in the range of 1: 8 to 1: 3. The specified ratio largely depends on the source of copper, co-biocide and other additives. Generally speaking, the more additives are required, the higher the molar ratio of copper: amine. The least leaching was achieved in the case of samples impregnated with an aqueous solution containing copper, boron, ethanolamine and a quaternary ammonium compound, where the molar ratio of copper to amine was from 1: 5 to 1: 6, respectively. In solutions where the molar ratio was less than 4: 1, copper precipitated.
The most effective composition of the wood preservation solution according to the present invention is an aqueous solution of ethanolamine, copper (II) hydroxide / copper (II) carbonate (1: 1), boric acid, alkylbenzyldimethylammonium chloride and caprylic acid, including these components in the following amounts:
1:6,a) ethanolamine (EA) with a molar ratio of copper: EA 1: 6,
(II),b) 1% copper in the form of copper (II) hydroxide copper (II) carbonate,
c) 0,5% бора в форме борной кислоты,c) 0.5% boron in the form of boric acid,
d) 1% четвертичного аммониевого соединения в форме хлорида алкилбензилдиметиламмония,d) 1% of a quaternary ammonium compound in the form of alkylbenzyldimethylammonium chloride,
1:1,e) caprylic acid with a molar ratio of copper: caprylic acid 1: 1,
1:0,5,f) silanes with a mass ratio of copper: hydrophobic substance 1: 0.5,
1:2,g) ethylene glycol with a mass ratio of copper: ethylene glycol 1: 2,
или в граммах каждого ингредиента на 1000 г раствора для защиты древесины:or in grams of each ingredient per 1000 g of wood protection solution:
57.69 g of ethanolamine,
(II),17.39 g of copper (II) hydroxide / copper (II) carbonate,
22.6 g of boric acid,
10.8 g of alkylbenzyldimethylammonium chloride,
11.35 g of caprylic acid,
5 g of silanes,
20 g of ethylene glycol.
Wood impregnated with an aqueous solution prepared in accordance with the present invention showed satisfactory weather resistance. The results were comparable with the degree of leaching of copper in the case of wood impregnated with solutions based on copper-chromium. In addition, the wood impregnated with the solution of the present invention showed resistance to most fungi causing rotting of the wood. The weight loss of the impregnated wood samples exposed to the fungus tinder fungus (Trametes versicolor) and dry rot fungus (Serpula lacrymans, Antrodia vaillantii, Coniophora puteana) turned out to be insignificant (the tests were carried out in accordance with standard methods). Slight weight loss was also noted when the samples were exposed to artificial weather conditions. The solution according to the present invention protects the wood against copper-resistant microorganisms.
(Kalotermes flavicolis).Wood impregnated with an aqueous solution prepared in accordance with the present invention also showed resistance to termites (Kalotermes flavicolis).
