Abstract
Description
д.The invention relates to methods for the integral connection of products from alloys based on titanium nickelide (TiNi, nitinol) with products from titanium and its alloys, and is a diffusion welding using an intermediate layer. The method can be applied in various fields of industry for the production of thermomechanical devices, implantable structures used in medicine, etc.
A known method of joining alloys based on titanium nickelide (Ti-54.2% Ni) and VT6 titanium alloy using diffusion welding at a temperature of 850-950 ° C [K. Senkevich and other Features of the formation of the diffusion compound TiNi - VT6 // Metallurgy and heat treatment of metals, 2013, No. 8]. Its disadvantage is the formation in the welding zone of brittle intermetallic compounds enriched with titanium (Ti 2 Ni), which reduce the strength of the connection. The maximum bond strength is 170 MPa.
Closest to the claimed technical essence and the achieved effect is a prototype method of joining alloys based on titanium nickelide using an intermediate layer of niobium (US 20110009979). The method allows to obtain a connection due to the formation in the zone of connection of solid solutions of titanium and nickel with niobium. The prototype method can allow you to connect alloys based on titanium nickelide with various materials, including titanium alloys. The use of an intermediate layer of niobium allows the formation of a durable welded joint due to the formation of an intermediate diffusion zone consisting of solid solutions of titanium and nickel with niobium. The disadvantage of this method is the high temperature of the compound process (1170-1275 ° C), at which there is a radical change in the microstructure of titanium and its alloys - intensive grain growth, the formation of a plate microstructure due to the excess of the polymorphic transformation temperature in titanium (about 890 ° C) and titanium alloys (980-1000 ° C), due to which there is a significant decrease in their mechanical properties.
The objective of the invention is to obtain a high-strength permanent connection of alloys based on titanium nickelide with titanium and its alloys.
The technical result is to preserve the physicomechanical properties and microstructure of the titanium-based alloys being joined by lowering the temperature of diffusion welding of titanium nickelide and titanium nickelide alloys.
To solve the problem, the surfaces of products made of alloys based on titanium nickelide, niobium and titanium or its alloys are cleaned of oxides, after which the product made of an alloy based on titanium nickelide is connected only with a layer of niobium, heated to a temperature of 1170-1190 ° C, maintained for 1-15 minutes, cool and bring into contact with the second titanium or alloy product with the side containing the niobium layer, heated to a temperature of 850-950 ° C in a protective atmosphere or vacuum, apply a pressure of 1-15 MPa, incubated for 5-60 minutes and cool give.
At the first stage, a titanium nickelide product and an intermediate layer (in the form of a foil, a sheet or a sprayed niobium layer obtained by various methods of spraying coatings) are mounted on top of each other in the chamber of a vacuum diffusion welding machine or vacuum furnace, create a vacuum or protective medium from inert gases, heated to temperatures of 1170-1190 ° C, incubated for 1-15 minutes and cooled. The temperature of the compound is selected taking into account the release of the liquid phase during the interaction of TiNi with Nb at a temperature above 1170 ° C. To prevent excessive release of the liquid phase, it should not exceed 1190 ° C. At these temperatures, there are no significant changes in the microstructure and physicomechanical properties of alloys based on titanium nickelide.
The exposure time should not be less than 1 minute, sufficient to warm the connected products and the allocation of the liquid phase, and should not exceed 15 minutes to prevent excessive allocation of the liquid phase.
The niobium interlayer may be in the form of a foil or sheet. The interlayer can be applied to samples of alloys based on titanium nickelide by various coating spraying methods. The interlayer should be spent on the formation of a liquid phase in the contact zone with the alloy based on titanium nickelide, and then the remaining layer is connected to the titanium / titanium alloy in the solid phase. The minimum thickness of the layer to ensure the above conditions should be at least 50 microns. To minimize the content of free niobium in the welding zone, it is desirable that the interlayer does not exceed 500 microns.
In a second step, a coupled titanium nickelide-based alloy containing a niobium layer and a titanium / titanium alloy product and the titanium / titanium alloy product are mounted on top of each other in a diffusion welding machine or vacuum furnace chamber so that the niobium layer contacts the surface of the titanium / titanium alloy. In this case, the previously free side of the intermediate layer is further prepared mechanically and / or chemically to remove oxides on the surface. After heating to a temperature of 850-950 ° C, a pressure of 1-15 MPa is applied, and holding is carried out for 5-60 minutes, then cooling is carried out. At a temperature of 850-950 ° C, titanium and alloys based on it have sufficient ductility, which ensures the formation of physical contact between the surfaces to be joined, and the development of diffusion processes contributing to the formation of an intermediate diffusion zone is ensured. Above 950 ° C, strong grain growth in the titanium / titanium alloy is possible, as well as uncontrolled deformation due to increased ductility. The time of diffusion welding should ensure the complete flow of diffusion processes and healing of pores, and depending on the temperature of welding can be 5-60 minutes. Welding pressure should provide the most complete contact due to the deformation of microprotrusions on the connected surfaces. Depending on the selected temperature of diffusion welding, it should be at least 1 MPa and not more than 15 MPa to avoid excessive deformation of the joined products.
The proposed temperature regimes of diffusion welding of alloys based on titanium nickelide and titanium / titanium alloy (850-950 ° C) are lower than those used in the prototype method (1170-1275 ° C), which avoids significant changes in the microstructure and properties of titanium and its alloys.

The claimed method allows to maintain the initial high level of mechanical properties of titanium and its alloys due to the welding process at a temperature below the polymorphic transformation (Ac 3 ). The study of the mechanical properties of welded joints obtained by the claimed diffusion welding method, carried out at a temperature below the polymorphic transformation temperature, and when soldering through niobium at a temperature of 1170 ° C, corresponding to the selected prototype method, showed the advantage of the claimed method (see table). The tests were carried out on sheet semi-finished products, overlapped, while the welding area significantly exceeded the cross-sectional area of the connected semi-finished products from VT6 titanium alloy, as a result of which the destruction occurred on the base material. It was found that the mechanical properties of titanium nickelide-based alloys connected to the alloy according to the claimed method of semi-finished products from VT6 titanium alloy are significantly higher than those connected by the prototype method. This is due to the fact that when welding according to the claimed method, there are no significant changes in the microstructure of the joined semi-finished products from titanium and its alloys, in contrast to the connection according to the prototype method, in which the formation of a coarse-grained plate microstructure occurs, the presence of which reduces the strength properties and ductility of the alloys .
Thus, the use of the proposed technical solution will allow to obtain a high-strength permanent connection of alloys based on titanium nickelide with titanium and its alloys with high physical and mechanical properties of both the welded joint and the welded titanium alloy.
