In these furnaces, an electric melting method is implemented, which includes loading the furnace with a charge, lowering the graphitized electrode until electrical contact between the electrode and the mixture occurs, turning on the power source for the current to flow through a closed electric circuit, including electrodes with current leads, a control system for the electric parameters of the furnace.
Maintaining the initial melting period, i.e. before the formation of the well in the known methods is not regulated.
Similarly, the first melting period, described in patent RU 2104450, F27B3 / 08, 02/10/98, is not specifically regulated. In the specified source of information, selected as a prototype, the organization of smelting is divided into periods, including: the period of melting of the charge and the period of operation with the melt, however, the characteristics of the first period, ensuring the achievement of the technical result of the present invention, are not available in this source of information.
An object of the present invention is to reduce the cost of the smelting process, which is provided by optimizing the management of its initial period. This is achieved by the following technical results: reducing the specific energy consumption, reducing the burden of the charge, reducing dust and gas emissions, harmful effects on the environment during the re-melting of any charge, including with organic and other contaminants, suppressing voltage fluctuations in the initial melting period.
This technical result is achieved by the fact that in the known method of maintaining the initial period of electric melting in a DC arc furnace, which includes loading the furnace with a charge, turning on the furnace’s power source, lowering the graphite electrode until electrical contact between the electrode and the mixture occurs, igniting the arc, passing current through a closed electric circuit including a graphite electrode, an inter-gap, a charge, at least one hearth electrode with current leads, an electric power source niya, and also - control of the current, voltage of the arc and the power source, monitoring and stabilization of the maximum possible voltage at the terminals of the power source and the arc - by changing its length after reaching the maximum voltage on it, and completing the method after the penetration of the well in the charge, in addition throughout the entire initial period, the current density in the graphitized electrode is set to not more than 20 A / cm 2 up to the end of penetration of the well in the charge, which is determined after termination I stabilize the maximum possible voltage on the arc when moving the working end of the electrode deep into the well.
The method is as follows
1. Download the furnace charge.
2. Turn on the furnace power supply.
3. Lower the graphitized electrode until electrical contact between the electrode and the charge occurs.
4. Ignite the arc and pass the current through a closed electric circuit, including a graphitized electrode, the gap between the wires, the charge, at least one hearth electrode with current leads, a power source.
5. In the process of conducting the initial period of smelting is carried out
Когда торец электрода удерживают в положении вблизи точки его касания шихты - в момент поджига дуги - это позволяет, с одной стороны, - не перегревать свод при излишнем увеличении длины дуги, и работать при максимально возможной скорости нагрева шихты, с другой стороны, - работать на максимально возможной мощности дуги, препятствуя ее уменьшению при уменьшении длины дуги, и связанном при этом падением напряжения на дуге.control of the current, voltage of the arc and the power source, control and stabilization of the maximum possible voltage at the terminals of the power source and the arc - by changing its length after reaching the maximum voltage on it. To do this, during heating, the end of the electrode is held in a position near the point of contact of the charge - at the time of ignition of the arc. If you raise the electrode above, then the irrational thermal load of the arch increases, if you lower it, then the voltage on the arc and the power introduced into the furnace decrease, which increases the melting time. After increasing the voltage on the arc to the maximum possible, this voltage is stabilized by moving the electrode. When the end face of the electrode is held in a position near the point of contact of the charge — at the time of ignition of the arc — this allows, on the one hand, not to overheat the arch with an excessive increase in the length of the arc, and to work at the maximum possible heating rate of the charge, on the other hand, to work on the maximum possible power of the arc, preventing it from decreasing with a decrease in the length of the arc, and the resulting voltage drop across the arc.
6. Throughout the entire initial period, the current density in the graphitized electrode is set to not more than 20 A / cm 2 until the well penetration in the charge is determined, which is determined after the stabilization of the maximum possible voltage across the arc is stopped when the working end of the electrode moves deep into the well.
For this, a graphite electrode of cylindrical shape with a given cross section of the working end is installed on the arc furnace. A power source, for example, a thyristor converter, with the ability to control and stabilize the current, is also installed on the furnace installation. When the furnace is operating, a current value is set at which the current density at the working end of the graphitized electrode does not exceed 20 A / cm 2 , and then this current is stabilized until the penetration of the well in the charge is completed.
Well penetration is accompanied by an increase in voltage on the arc, and at the end of well penetration, voltage growth stops. Further melting at a current density below 20 A / cm 2 is not advisable, and the furnace is transferred to the melting modes with a high current density on a graphite electrode, which allows efficient melting of the charge and heating of the melt in the modes shown in the prototype.
We found that at a current density in a graphitized electrode (cathode) of 20 A / cm 2 and lower near the cathode, the arc has a conical section, smoothly turning into a cylindrical one. Due to the panderomotive forces, an intensive injection of gases surrounding the arc takes place in the conical section, which then move along the cylindrical section of the arc. When moving along the cylindrical section of the arc, there is no gas exchange between the gas pumped through the arc and the atmosphere gas of the furnace, since a viscosity jump is formed due to the difference in the surface temperature of the arc and the temperature of the furnace gases, which prevents the penetration of furnace gases into the arc. Upon contact with the metal, the gas flowing through the arc cools and leaves the arc zone. This process makes it possible to organize a controlled circulation of furnace gases inside the furnace space (see Fig. 1). The first mode is carried out at a low current strength, a large arc length, formed due to the high voltage of the power source. At the same time, a high penetration rate of the well is not accelerated (heat transfer in the anode spot is not more than 5-7% of the arc energy) and the charge is melted, its smooth heating is organized uniformly, mainly without transferring it to the molten state, and heating of the furnace gases to high temperatures. In this case, overheating of the metal is impossible, because as soon as the mass of a drop of metal exceeds surface tension, it flows down. That is, ideal conditions are created for gas-phase reduction of the charge. The fusion zone of the charge gradually moves downward, and the walls of the well gradually expand, involving in the melting process the mixture located near the walls of the furnace (see Fig. 2, which shows the movement of gases during the combustion of the arc column in DPPTU-NP).
When penetrating the well in the charge according to the proposed method, the temperature of the furnace gases inside the furnace reaches high values in excess of 1000 ° C. At such temperatures, the formation of dioxins, furans, cyanides, and other harmful compounds is impossible. In the initial period of electric melting, organic and other materials polluting the charge, evaporate, heat up inside the furnace to a high temperature, and when leaving the furnace they ignite and oxidize to simple compounds. A small amount of generated gases and organized intense air flow into the furnace gas stream leaving the furnace ensures a high burning rate of the furnace gases and their rapid cooling to a temperature, as a rule, below 100 ° C, i.e. the best conditions are provided to prevent the formation of harmful chemical compounds. The smelting organization system ensures the removal of harmful compounds from the charge, eliminates the need to prepare contaminated charge before smelting. These conditions cannot be met in other furnaces.
An example implementation of the method.
For example, melting is taken in a DC arc furnace with a capacity of 6 tons.
A graphite electrode with a diameter of 25 cm and a thyristor converter with a current control and stabilization system with a maximum voltage of 450 V are installed on the furnace. The furnace is equipped with a mechanism for moving the electrode. Metal scrap is filled in the furnace in the form of pieces of a charge of various sizes, shavings, etc. The filling height is many times higher than the height of the melt after the charge is melted. To conduct melting, they turn on the power supply, apply voltage between the graphitized electrode and the charge, lower the electrode until it touches the working end of the charge surface. The moment of contact is determined by the appearance of current in the electric circuit, which includes: a graphite electrode, an inter-gap, a charge, at least one hearth electrode with current leads and an electric power source with an electric mode regulator. Touch electrode charge is accompanied by the appearance of an arc discharge. In the electric circuit with the help of the thyristor converter current regulator, the current is set no higher than 9800A, i.e. with this graphitized electrode, the current density does not exceed 20 A / cm 2 . After ignition of the arc and stabilization of the current, the electrode is left stationary, and the arc melts the well in the charge. This increases the length of the arc and the voltage on it. When the voltage on the arc near 450 V is reached, the electrode begins to be lowered down, stabilizing the steady-state voltage. This movement of the electrode continues until the penetration of the well in the charge. After the penetration of the well ends, the movement of the electrode stops in order to stabilize the voltage on the arc. On this basis determines the end of the process of the initial melting period.
