Abstract
Description
The invention relates to insulating materials, namely to the cable industry, and can be used for the manufacture of insulating shells for fiber optic and electric cables that will not support combustion in air.
The widespread use of polymers is limited due to their high fire hazard. Numerous works have been published devoted to the problems of reducing the fire hazard of polymeric materials, where inorganic, halogen, and phosphorus-containing compounds are used as flame retardants.
With the toughening by the European Commission of standards for the release of hydrogen chloride for wires and cables, researchers began to pay great attention to the environmental safety of fire-fighting materials. In this regard, the priority is to reduce the combustibility of products and reduce the emission of smoke and toxic gases from polymers used in construction, electronics and many other fields.
А., 1991, №2, стр.177-190).To reduce flammability, halogenated aromatic compounds are more often used because of their thermal stability and low smoke-forming ability compared to aliphatic halogenated compounds. The effectiveness of flame retardants increases when they are used in combination with metal oxides. Together with these systems, special additives are used to reduce smoke generating ability, the most active of which are oxides of aluminum, zinc, tin, etc. (Kysak P.A., 1991, No. 2, pp. 177-190).
Composite materials of reduced flammability based on polyolefins are known, where chloroparaffins in combination with heavy metal oxides are used as flame retardant (US Patent No. 4,169,082 of 1979.09.25). The disadvantage of the composite is the high smoke generation during combustion and the toxicity of the gases emitted.
Composite materials of reduced flammability based on polyvinyl chloride are known for the cable industry (RF Patent No. 2321090 of 2008.03.27). Polyvinyl chloride insulation has satisfactory mechanical and dielectric characteristics. The disadvantage is that the gases released during the combustion of polyvinyl chloride, lead to suffocation and poisoning, have a strong oxidizing effect on metals, damaging expensive equipment.
The solution to the existing problem is the development of composite materials that do not contain halogens.
Known non-combustible bitumen-roofing composition that does not contain halogens (US Patent No. 74302 from 01/08/1995). It includes 5-20% of magnesium or aluminum hydroxide or a mixture thereof, thermoplastic binder, additives. As a binder, bitumen (not less than 45%), a thermoplastic polymer (block copolymer of styrene and butadiene, styrene, ethylene and butadiene, styrene and isoprene, a copolymer of ethylene and propylene) are used - 2-25%, atactic polypropylene - 2-20% and their mixtures. The disadvantage of the composite material is insufficient adhesion to the metal, low softening temperature and manufacturability.
10-20.Known electrical insulation composition based on polyolefins, not containing halogens (RF Patent No. 2394292 from 07/10/2010). The composite contains in parts by weight of: a copolymer of ethylene with vinyl acetate 60-85, high density polyethylene modified with maleic anhydride 15-35, magnesium or aluminum hydroxide 130-170, polyethylene wax 0.1-5, ether 3,5-di-tert -butyl-4-hydroxyphenylpropionic acid and pentaerythritol or 1,3,5-trimethyl-2,4,6-tris (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl) benzene 0.05-0.7, benzopropionic acids 3,5-bis (1,1-dimethylethyl-4-hydroxy-2- [3- [3,5-bis (1,1-dimethylethyl) -4-hydroxyphenyl] -1-oxopropyl] hydrazide 0.05- 0.3, nanoclay 10-20.
In its composition and basic characteristics, this composition is closest to the present invention and is accepted by us as a prototype.
The disadvantages of the insulating composition of the prototype should include insufficiently high physical and mechanical properties, which limits the possibility of its use in the cable industry.
The objective of the invention is to develop a composite material that does not emit corrosive and toxic gases during combustion, which does not support combustion in air and has a reduced smoke-forming ability and high physical and mechanical properties.
ч.:The technical result is achieved through the use of organically modified layered silicate as a nanofiller (Nalchikit - Russia, KBR, Herpegezhskoye deposit) in combination with magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate, which gives a synergistic effect that reduces the amount of mineral fillers in the nanocomposite and helps to maintain higher values of physical and mechanical properties. The ratio of components, parts by weight:
The basis of the above composition is magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate. Thermal destruction of magnesium hydroxide occurs in the range of 330-420 ° C with the release of water (up to 31% by weight). The thermal decomposition products of magnesium hydroxide are harmless, create a vapor shell around the polymer binder and, in combination with its coking part, impede the access of oxygen and potentially dangerous gases to the combustion surface, and partly sorb aggressive gases. The process is endothermic, accompanied by heat absorption - up to 328 kcal / g.
Thermal destruction of calcium carbonate occurs at temperatures above 600 ° C, decomposition products are harmless. The use of calcium carbonate helps to reduce the cost and improve the rheological properties of the nanocomposite.
Nalchikite is an organically modified clay of Russian origin. Organoclay helps to improve the resistance to ignition of nanocomposites due to the fact that layered silicate prevents the access of oxygen into the sample. When burning does not allow the material to spread, which significantly reduces its fire hazard.

1.Composites for laboratory tests were obtained by extrusion at a temperature of 120-150 ° C. Samples for measurement were obtained by injection molding on a Politest machine company Ray-Ran. The compositions are shown in table 1.
2.Flammability tests were carried out according to UL 94 standard, strength and elongation were determined on a universal tensile testing machine according to GOST 11262-80. The research results are shown in table 2.
From the results shown in table 2, it can be seen that the proposed nanocomposite material has high strength and relative elongation at break and exceeds the prototype in terms of these indicators.
