Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of metallurgy, and more particularly to heat treatment, in particular to the heat treatment of titanium alloys.
In the design of machine parts and devices, hardened by quenching and subsequent aging of parts made of heat-strengthened two-phase titanium alloys are widely used, and their use tends to increase. Cooling media play an important role in hardening heat treatment of such parts. The use of such intense coolers as water during quenching leads to a leash, in particular to lengthy parts and parts of complex shape, warping and cracking.
The use of less harsh coolers such as mineral oils as well as aqueous polymer solutions as quenching media creates a disposal problem and does not always provide the required cooling rate. Therefore, it seems promising to use a quenching medium that is not inferior to the above in hardening ability, reduces leash and crack formation and at the same time is environmentally friendly - a pulsating water-air flow.
A known method of heat treatment, which is subjected to products or billets of two-phase titanium alloys (see patent RU 2255137 C1, 06/27/2005 Bull. No. 18). Samples of VT14 alloy in the initial state, preliminarily annealed, quenched from a temperature of 850-880 ° С in water or quenched, and aged at a temperature of 480-500 ° С for 12 hours, heated to a temperature of 0.5-0.8 of temperature After aging, they are placed in the chamber of a gas-jet sound generator, where they are cooled by the unsteady air flow and the acoustic field of the sound frequency range with a sound pressure level of 140-160 dB for 4-5 minutes. As a result of this method, an increase in strength up to 1.3 times is achieved without a decrease in ductility.
The main disadvantages of the method are hardening in such an intensive cooler as water, which creates a significant temperature gradient over the volume of the product, which leads to a leash, as well as the need for additional technological heating operation, which makes the heat treatment difficult and expensive.
Closest to the technical nature of the claimed invention is a method of heat treatment of a product or a workpiece made of titanium alloy VT14 (see Yu.M. Lakhtin, V.P. Leontyeva. Materials Science. M: Mechanical Engineering. 1990, S. 384), adopted as the closest analogue. Parts made of VT14 alloy are hardened by quenching from 850-880 ° C in water and subsequent aging at 480-500 ° C for 12-16 hours.
The main disadvantages of this known method are the leash as a result of quenching of products in such an intensive cooler as water, as well as their insufficiently high hardness and wear resistance.
The claimed invention has the task to reduce the leash during hardening of two-phase titanium alloys, observed in long products and products of complex shape when using such sharp coolers as water, and also to increase hardness after quenching and aging, thereby increasing the wear resistance of products from these alloys.
The solution to this problem is achieved by the fact that in the method of heat treatment of products from two-phase titanium alloys by quenching heating at a temperature of from 850 to 880 ° C, holding and quenching cooling, followed by aging at a temperature of from 480 to 500 ° C for a duration of 12 to 14 hours, quenching cooling is carried out in an environment that is a pulsating water-air flow having a speed of 25 to 30 m / s, an oscillation frequency of 830 to 1000 Hz, a pulsed air pressure of 8 to 12 kPa and variable sound pressure from 80 to 90 dB.
Thus, the invention allowed to obtain a technical result, namely, to reduce the leash during heat treatment of products from two-phase titanium alloys, as well as to increase their hardness and wear resistance after quenching and subsequent aging in comparison with standard heat treatment.
The claimed invention is implemented as follows: a product of two-phase titanium alloy VT14, heated in an electric furnace to a quenching temperature from 850 to 880 ° C, after the required exposure is placed in a working chamber, where it is cooled by a pulsating water-air stream with a speed of 25 to 30 m / s, oscillation frequency from 830 to 1000 Hz, pulsed air pressure from 8 to 12 kPa and variable sound pressure from 80 to 90 dB, which has a complex effect on the hardened product. The water consumption in this case is from 1 to 1.5 l / min.
As a result, at a lower cooling rate than in water, the hardness obtained is not higher than when quenched in water, and higher hardness after aging. Ripples of the water-air mixture provide relaxation of stresses resulting from quenching cooling, and thereby reduce the leash of products. The higher hardness after aging of a titanium alloy quenched in a pulsating water-air mixture compared to that quenched in water can be explained by a more dispersed martensitic α "phase, which is formed during quenching under the influence of pulsations of the air flow, the decay of which during aging provides an increase in hardness and strength .
After hardening, the product is subjected to artificial aging in an electric furnace at a temperature of from 480 to 500 ° C.
Thus, the invention allowed to obtain a technical result, namely to reduce the leash during heat treatment of products from two-phase titanium alloys, as well as to increase hardness and wear resistance in comparison with standard hardening heat treatment of such alloys.
