Abstract
Description
The claimed invention relates to the electrical industry and can be used in the manufacture of sealed nickel-cadmium batteries.
A known method of forming a sealed alkaline battery (AS No. 1304685, CL. H01M 10/28, 1995) by conducting charge-discharge cycles in an electrolyte volume equal to 17-19 free battery volumes. In such an electrolyte volume, the amount of carbonates remains within the normal range (up to 10 g / l), which makes it possible to reuse it.
The disadvantage of this method is the duration of the forming cycle (charge time - 18 hours, discharge time - 9 hours). In addition, this formation method does not provide the battery capacity necessary for a long service life.
The closest in technical essence and the achieved effect to the claimed is a method of manufacturing a sealed nickel-cadmium battery of high energy consumption (patent RU No. 2128870, Cl. Н01М 10/34, Н01М 10/26, 1999), including assembling a package of electrode plates with separation positive and negative electrodes with separation material, block sediment in the battery case, filling the battery with electrolyte and conducting forming charge-discharge cycles. After installing the separated electrode block in the casing, it is poured with an aqueous solution of caustic lithium with a concentration of 50-110 g / l, impregnated in a vacuum and charged, after which the solution of caustic lithium is drained, filled with an aqueous solution of caustic potassium with a concentration of 300-350 g / l with the addition of caustic lithium 15-35 g / l and conduct charge-discharge cycles. This method allows to reduce the loss of capacity during sealing.
The disadvantage of this method is the lengthy process of formation (more than 60 hours). Also, this method does not provide the necessary capacity for long battery life.
The aim of the invention is to significantly reduce the time of formation of the battery, as well as increasing the capacity of the battery and increase its service life.
The solution to this problem is achieved by the fact that in the method of manufacturing a sealed nickel-cadmium battery comprising assembling a package of electrode plates with separation of positive and negative electrodes by a separation material, depositing a block into a battery case, filling the battery with electrolyte, conducting forming charge-discharge cycles, in each forming cycle the charge is carried out to a voltage of 1.56-1.58 V, and the discharge to a voltage of 1 V. In addition, the formation of the battery is carried out by six charge-discharge qi Lamy. During each forming cycle, the electrolyte is added, maintaining its constant level and concentration.
The claimed method of manufacturing a sealed Nickel-cadmium battery, providing increased battery capacity and increased service life, as well as significantly reducing the battery formation time is implemented as described in the example.
1.Example. The formation of the battery type NKGK-90CA. A nickel-cadmium battery, consisting of blocks of oxide-nickel and oxide-cadmium plates, separated by separators and placed in a metal case, is poured with electrolyte - an aqueous solution of caustic potassium with a concentration of 300 g / l with the addition of an aqueous solution of caustic lithium with a concentration of 30 g / l The electrode block is impregnated under vacuum, after which the battery is formed by six charge-discharge cycles with a message when charging about 150% of the nominal capacity. The charge and discharge current strength is 18 A. The formation process is carried out without pauses in one electrolyte. During the cycles, voltage is measured during charge and discharge. The charge completion time is determined by reaching a voltage value of 1.56 V, the discharge completion time is determined by reaching a voltage value of 1 V. The duration of the charge and discharge in cycles is presented in table 1.
The electrolyte is added during the formation process when switching from charge to discharge and back, maintaining its level above the edges of the separator. After formation, a potassium lithium electrolyte is added to the battery to bring its amount to 0.45 ml per 1 cm 3 of the electrode block (including separation material), a carbon electrode is introduced, the battery is sealed, and the container is tested in a sealed form.
The duration of the process of forming a battery manufactured by the claimed method is 43 hours 10 minutes, while the formation of the same battery by the method described in the prototype takes much longer (charge-discharge cycles last 60 hours without taking into account the time to change the electrolyte).
For testing, 4 NKGK-90SA batteries were manufactured according to the claimed technology. The operating time of these batteries was 2 calendar years in shallow citation mode, the total number of cycles was more than 14,000, and the residual control capacity was 63 Ah. The characteristics of the batteries during the life tests are shown in Table 2 for comparison with the characteristics of the 800A unit, consisting of 4 of the same nickel-cadmium batteries, but made according to the technology adopted for the prototype.
As can be seen from the data in table 2, the tests showed that the manufacture of the battery according to the claimed method leads to a significant improvement in capacitive characteristics and its service life. So, after 22.5 months of operation, the 800A unit ceases to work with a residual capacity of 60 A · h, having worked out only 9000 cycles. At the same time, the 4NKGK-90CA module has a capacity of 73 Ah after a much larger number of cycles, which allowed him to continue working for 24 full months.
Thus, the claimed technology provides an increase in the capacity of a nickel-cadmium sealed battery and an increase in its service life, and also significantly reduces the time of formation of the battery.
It should also be noted that the proposed formation mode is easy to automate using a software time relay.
