Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of welding production and can be used in mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and other industries in the manufacture and installation of various components and structures, including parts and products from copper or its alloys and steel, except for parts or products from tin bronzes.
Studies have shown that for welding copper and its alloys with steels, wire, rods, powders or rods of electrodes made of copper alloys are used as electrode or filler materials. In direct fusion welding of copper and its alloys with steels, a significant amount of iron passes into the weld metal. Due to the insignificant solubility of iron in copper and its alloys in the weld metal, a new phase is formed - the glandular component (æ-phase), which was absent in the initial base and filler (electrode) metals. The æ phase formed in the weld metal has high hardness and very low, close to zero, plastic properties (relative elongation and relative narrowing) and impact strength. With a significant content of the æ phase in the weld metal, the relative elongation, relative narrowing, bending angle and toughness of the weld metal and welded joints significantly decrease. Therefore, when welding copper and its alloys with steels, it is advisable to reduce the transition of iron from steel to weld metal.
Known methods for the arc welding of copper and its alloys with steels using an intermediate insert made of a copper-nickel alloy, overlapping a steel part with a copper part or with a protrusion of a copper welded edge on steel (for example, according to A.S. No. 1518097, A.S. No. 1447596, A.S. No. 1348110). However, welding by all these methods is not always structurally possible or expedient and does not lead to a decrease in the iron content in the weld metal.
The closest analogue of the claimed invention is the method of electric arc welding of copper and steel adopted by us as a prototype (A.E. Weinerman. Technology of electric arc welding of copper and steel. L .: LDNTP, 1963).
According to this method, copper and its alloys are directly welded to steel by an electric arc method using Komsomolets or MNZh5-1 3T coated electrodes and a non-consumable electrode in argon atmosphere using copper wire of M1 grade and BrKMts3-1 bronze as an additive material ( for welding copper with steel) or from an alloy of the MNZh5-1 grade (for welding a copper-nickel alloy with steel). As a result of such welding, a seam with a copper base and steel inclusions of up to 34% is formed. Although this method of welding provides a high value of the tensile strength of the weld metal and welded joint, the disadvantages of this method are the significant transition of iron into the weld metal, the formation of a significant amount of precipitates of brittle and solid æ-phase, low plastic properties and the toughness of the weld metal and welded compounds.
The technical result of the claimed invention is the development of a method of fusion welding of copper and its alloys with steels, which ensures a minimum transition of iron into the weld metal, reduction of chemical and structural heterogeneity in the weld metal, as well as high strength, plastic properties and toughness of welded joints.
The technical result of the invention is achieved due to the fact that the welding of copper and its alloys with steels is performed through an intermediate layer of a copper alloy deposited on the welded edge of the steel, and this intermediate layer is deposited on the steel so that the proportion of steel in the deposited metal does not exceed 0 , 08 (in accordance with the work of [G.L. Petrov. Welding materials., L. Mashinostroenie, 1972, p.19]] the participation of the base metal in the deposited metal is determined by the expression ψ = S ohm / (S ohm + S nm ) , where ψ is the fraction of the main alla in the weld, S th - the area of opposition of the parent metal; S nm - weld metal area) and welding the weld intermediate layer with a copper part is performed using the same filler material, which is used for welding of copper or its alloys and steel. With this welding method, both the minimum transition of iron into the weld metal is ensured, as well as the reduction of chemical and structural heterogeneity in the weld metal, since the same filler metal is used for welding the sublayer metal, which is adopted for welding a copper alloy with steel.
Testing of the proposed method for welding copper and its alloys with steel was carried out by argon arc welding of non-consumable electrode plates 12-15 mm thick made of steel grade St3, 20 or AB2-PK with plates 12-15 mm thick made of copper, an alloy grade MNZh5-1 or bronze grade BrA9Zh4N4 using wire made from alloys of the BrKMts3-1, MNZHKT5-1-0,2-0,2, BrAMts9-2 and BrAZhNMts8,5-4-5-1,5 alloys as filler material, moreover, experimentally the technique and surfacing modes of copper alloy on steel were determined such that the proportion of steel in the deposited metal is ψ = 0.065-0.07. In this case, the bevel of the edges to be welded was carried out on copper alloy plates at an angle of 55-60 °, and on the steel plates, the bevel of the edges to be welded was 90 °. A layer of a copper alloy with a thickness of 2–3 mm thick was deposited onto steel edges to be welded with direct current of direct polarity with wires made of BrKMts3-1 and MNZHKT5-1-0,2-0,2 alloys and with an alternating current a similar layer of copper alloy with wires of aluminum bronzes of the brands BrAMts9-2 and BrAZHNMts8.5-4-5-1.5. After this, argon-arc welding was performed with a non-consumable electrode of steel plates, the edges of which were welded with filler material from a copper alloy, with plates from a copper alloy. At the same time, they were welded with direct current of direct polarity: using a BrKMts3-1 bronze wire, a copper plate with a steel plate with an edge welded with BrKMts3-1 bronze; using a wire from an alloy of the MNZHKT5-1-0,2-0,2 grade; a plate from an alloy of the MNZhKT5-1 brand with a plate of steel with an edge welded by an alloy of the MNZHKT5-1-0,2-0,2 brand; they were welded on alternating current: using a wire made of BrAMts9-2 bronze grade a plate made of bronze grade BrА9Ж4Н4 with a steel plate with an edge welded with bronze grade BrAMts9-2 and using a wire made of bronze grade BrАЖНМц8,5-4-5-1,5 a plate made of bronze grade BrА9Ж4Н4 with a plate of steel with an edge deposited with bronze grade BrАЖНМц8,5-4-5-1,5. For comparison, welding of similar steel plates with plates of copper and copper alloys was performed according to the method adopted by us for the prototype.
From the obtained welded joints of plates of copper and copper alloys with plates of steel, samples were made to determine the tensile strength, relative elongation and toughness of the weld metal. The results of determining the properties of the weld metal in welded joints of copper alloys with steels are given in the table. An analysis of the results shows the following. The relative elongation and toughness of the weld metal with an incision both in the center of the weld and along the fusion border with steel with the proposed welding method is significantly (mainly 2-3 times) higher than with the prototype welding method; at the same time, the tensile strength of the weld metal in both welding methods ensures its equal strength with a copper alloy. Therefore, a higher efficiency and reliability of welded joints obtained by the proposed welding method and operated under alternating and shock loads is ensured than with the prototype welding method.
