Abstract
Description
The invention relates to fire retardant intumescent coatings, mainly for wood materials based on vermiculite. And it can be used for its intended purpose when coating wooden products and wood materials for their operation in high temperature environments.
Known fire retardant coating for wooden structures, including asbestos, filler, sodium or potassium silicate and water, white carbon black, titanium dioxide and emulsion polyvinyl chloride are used as filler (see, for example, USSR author's certificate, No. 1180389, class C 09 By 21/00 for 1985).
The disadvantage of this coating is the inability to use for coating wooden products and wood materials used in the air, because when exposed to high temperature, polyvinyl chloride decomposes and destroys the entire coating. In addition, during the decomposition of the coating, a toxic substance such as chlorine is released, which makes it unsafe to use it in the national economy.
Also known is a fire-retardant coating based on liquid glass, into which an organic binder is introduced in the form of a water-soluble polymer K-9, containing saponified waste nitron fiber and a solution of coagulum (see USSR author's certificate No. 1604830, class C 09 K 21/00 for 1990 .).
The disadvantage of this coating is that it can only be used to fill gaps in containers intended for rail transportation of goods, and protects only the possibility of sources of ignition through container leaks. In addition, the liquid glass included in the coating is a moisture accumulator with subsequent destruction of the coating under the influence of the air at high and low temperatures.
The closest in technical essence to the proposed one is a coating for fire-resistant deck structures containing asbestos, Portland cement, expanded vermiculite and aluminum sulfate dissolved in water (see USSR author's certificate No. 1342906, class C 09 K 21/04 for 1987 )
However, with all the inherent advantages of this coating, it has significant disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of this coating is the low resistance of the coating when exposed to high temperatures (less than 0.5 hours), sliding of the coating from the place of its application, as well as the high consumption of the coating itself when applied to the surface of the product. In addition, the known coating is intended for metal surfaces and its thermal conductivity is great. As a result, under the influence of high temperature, the surface of the product or material under the coating overheats and ignites. Therefore, this fire-resistant coating is intended for metal products and materials and is not suitable for wooden products and materials.
The technical task of the invention is to eliminate the above disadvantages, increase the duration of the coating when exposed to high temperatures, reduce the thermal conductivity of the coating and the possibility of its use in protecting wooden products and materials from fire under the influence of high temperatures.
The specified technical problem is achieved by the fact that the proposed fire retardant coating containing Portland cement, expanded vermiculite and water additionally contains mullite-siliceous fiber (Al 2 O 3 ) and MECELLESE (FMC - 2070) in the form of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose in the following ratio of components
The composition of the coating is prepared as follows. All components according to the recipe before being loaded into the mixer are tested for compliance with technical specifications. After that, each of the components is weighed and loaded into the mixer. Then, for a certain period of time, mixing is performed with a change in the direction of rotation. After this, the mixture is packaged in containers (usually in valve bags) and sent to the consumer, for example at construction sites. At the consumer, water is added to the mixture and again mixing is carried out directly at the construction site before applying the coating to the surface until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
The resulting coating is applied to wooden structures using one of the known methods (brush, paint sprayer, dipping, etc.). Before coating, the surface of the wooden structure is wetted with a soda solution. The coating is formed at room temperature for 24 hours. For accelerated coating formation can be used forced drying at a temperature of 80 ° C. The characteristics of the comparison of the coating is the time to reach the maximum permissible average excess of the initial temperature on an unheated surface, which is assumed to be 200 ° C. The thickness of the test samples selected 4 mm
9%.For testing, 7 samples are presented in different percentages of selected components. The test results are shown in the table. As can be seen from the data presented in the table, the proposed composition for fire retardant coating has increased fire resistance and adhesion to the surface of the sample, it is resistant to temperature. In this case, the weight loss of the wooden sample does not exceed 9%.
The application of the proposed coating allows to increase the heating time of the sample to a critical temperature by 1.5-2 times, reduce the amount of coating consumption per unit area by 10-15% and improve the adhesion of the coating to the surface of the samples in comparison with the known fire retardant coatings based on expanded vermiculite.
