Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the production of light porous refractory materials containing carbon and / or carbides, capable of satisfying the requirements of effective thermal protection of various thermal installations and assemblies in the energy sector, metallurgy, construction industry and many other industries, as well as providing reliable thermal insulation of structures or their assemblies in aviation space technology, auto and shipbuilding.
2000).One of the most common technological methods in world practice that can significantly increase the heat resistance, corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics of refractories is the introduction of a carbon-containing component in the form of graphite, soot, coke, carbides (Kashcheev I.D. Oxide-carbon refractories. - M .: Intermet Engineering, 2000).
For example, a refractory material is known, including metal oxides (Al, Mg, Ca, Zr, Ti and / or Cr), silicon oxide and carbide, graphite and pyrocarbon obtained by calcining a molded mixture of the starting components. The disadvantage of the material is the high density and thermal conductivity.
To reduce the density and thermal conductivity of carbon-containing materials, they create a porous structure.
Known heat-insulated foam UKM, including a pyrolyzed matrix of a mixture of thermosetting resin and carbon fibers (US patent No. 4442165, CL 428-3077.1984). This material is characterized by high complexity and complexity of the manufacturing process and low mechanical strength.
Known structural heat-insulating carbon material of low density based on carbon fibers, which is obtained by mixing discrete carbon fibers in a dispersion thermoplastic liquid (glycerin, polyglycols, petroleum oils), followed by removal through the suction filter of a part of the dispersion liquid and molding by pressing in the mold of the workpiece, which is then fired (RU 2093494 C1, C 04 B 35/52, C 04 B 35/83, 10.20.1997). The material is not subject to shrinkage at high temperatures, has a sufficiently low coefficient of thermal conductivity, but has a complex and expensive manufacturing technology.
A carbon-based porous heat-insulating material is known, the porous structure of which is obtained by introducing pore-forming substances, in particular metal chlorides, into the composition of the starting components (Japanese Application No. 59141410, С 04 В 31/02, 1984). According to this invention, powdered graphite is mixed with a binder (synthetic resin or petroleum pitch) and NaCl powder. The resulting mixture is molded and after coking at a high temperature is subjected to leaching, in which the salt dissolves, freeing the pores. The disadvantage of this carbon material is its high thermal conductivity.
A common disadvantage of carbon-containing materials is the burning of carbon from the surface of the working layers in an oxidizing medium at high temperatures (above 500 ° C), therefore, it is effective to use carbon materials in a vacuum or in an inert medium.
Ячеистая углеродная структура материала является продуктом термообработки синтетической термореактивной смолы (олигомера фурфурилового спирта) при температуре до 1000°С со средней скоростью подъема температуры 10°С/час в инертной среде (RU 2099310 C1, C 04 B 35/52, 35/83, 20.12.97).Known heat-insulating foamed carbon composite material having a cellular carbon structure, which contains a filler - whiskers of silicon carbide in an amount of 1-2 wt.%. The cellular carbon structure of the material is the product of heat treatment of a synthetic thermosetting resin (furfuryl alcohol oligomer) at temperatures up to 1000 ° C with an average temperature rise rate of 10 ° C / hour in an inert medium (RU 2099310 C1, C 04 B 35/52, 35/83, 12/20/97).
The disadvantage of this material is its high thermal conductivity, as well as fairly easy burnout of carbon from the surface layers in an oxygen-containing medium at high temperatures (above 500 ° C), so it is effective to use this material only in a vacuum or in an inert environment, where the operating temperature can reach 2000- 2500 ° C. In addition, the use of expensive whiskers of silicon carbide in the material leads to an increase in its cost.
Closest to the claimed invention is a refractory foam material having a cellular structure obtained by foaming and curing a slip composition prepared by mixing a ground mixture containing a mineral filler with a gasifier - finely divided crystalline silicon mixed with liquid glass with the following mass ratios of components in the slip composition: liquid glass: silicon = (3-6): 1 and a charge: liquid glass = (1.0-1.5): 1. As a mineral filler, either natural mineral substances, such as sand, clay, perlite, etc., or building materials, or industrial and construction waste, including carbonaceous, such as fly ash (EN 2197450, class C 04 B 38/02, publ. 01/27/2003, prototype).
The disadvantages of this known porous refractory material are an insufficient amount of a carbon-containing component and the absence of refractory compounds in it: mullite structures and silicon carbide, which leads to a decrease in the fire resistance of the material, a decrease in its strength characteristics, an increase in thermal conductivity and an increase in density.
The objective of the invention is to provide a lightweight porous refractory carbon-containing material with low thermal conductivity, high mechanical characteristics and high resistance under various operating conditions, including in an oxidizing environment at high temperatures.
ч.:The solution to this problem is achieved by the proposed refractory foamed carbon-containing material having a cellular structure obtained by foaming and curing of a slip composition prepared by mixing ground mixture containing a mineral filler, with a blowing agent - fine crystalline silicon mixed with liquid glass, with the following mass ratios of components in the slurry : liquid glass: silicon (3-6): 1 and the mixture: liquid glass (1.0-1.5): 1, in which the mixture according to the invention is supplemented tionary comprises calcined shungite and aluminum powder in the following ratio, mass parts .:
при этом материал имеет пористость 60-81% и теплопроводность при 20°С 0,08-0,18 Вт/м·К и содержит 12-20 мас.% карбида кремния и 25-51 мас.% кианита, полученных экзотермической реакцией при 1400-1700оС, протекающей в объёме отверждённого пористого материала.the material has a porosity of 60-81% and thermal conductivity at 20 ° C of 0.08-0.18 W / m · K and contains 12-20 wt.% silicon carbide and 25-51 wt.% kyanite obtained by exothermic reaction at 1400-1700 о С, flowing in the volume of cured porous material.
The mineral filler is selected from the group: quartz sand, clay, quartzite, perlite, vermiculite, chamotte, dinas, cement, fly ash, slag.
The main differences of the proposed material from the known (prototype) are the choice of an additional carbon-containing component - schungite - and its introduction into the charge composition, as well as the introduction of aluminum into the charge composition, which resulted in a significant content of refractory compounds in the material: mullite structures and silicon carbide, which leads to a decrease in thermal conductivity, a substantial increase in the resistance of the material to oxidative degradation and an improvement in strength characteristics.
For the exothermic reaction (self-propagating high-temperature synthesis - SHS) to occur in the mixture, it is necessary to have an oxidizing agent and a reducing agent, which are usually silicon dioxide and powdered aluminum, respectively. When using a mixture with a carbon component for the SHS reaction, as in the claimed solution, in addition to aluminum, carbon also acts as a reducing agent.
When choosing a carbon-containing component, preference was given to shungite, which is a natural carbon-silicate composition in which the carbon and mineral phases are uniformly distributed throughout the volume.
Для шунгитовых пород подобного типа (около 30% углерода) характерны следующие свойства (после термообработки при 200-380°С):In the invention, shungite of the following composition was used: carbon 28.6%, SiO 2 57.2%, the rest - oxides of Al, Mg, Ti, Fe, K. The ratio of the mineral and carbon phases is 3.6. The following properties are characteristic of schungite rocks of this type (about 30% carbon) (after heat treatment at 200-380 ° C):
К. (Kalinin Yu.K. Carbon-containing shungite rocks and their practical application. Abstract of dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Moscow, 2002). When heated, schungite swells (due to loss of crystallization water), therefore, calcined schungite is used in the claimed material, which avoids its dehydration during firing in SHS mode and further reduces the density of the material.
The technology for producing foamed cured material from a slip composition based on a mineral mixture by the method of "cold" expansion (due to the exothermic reaction of a silicon gas former with an aqueous alkaline solution of liquid glass) and subsequent exothermic synthesis in the volume of the obtained solid inorganic cellular structure was developed by us earlier (RU 2197450 C1, C 04 B 38/02, 01/27/2003, RU 2182569 C1, C 04 B 35/65, 35/185, 35/66, 05/20/2002). When creating the proposed material, the parameters of these processes were studied to select the optimal conditions.
The study of the exothermic synthesis process showed that the highly porous macrostructure of the material organized during curing does not change during SHS combustion, but new chemical compounds with higher mechanical and refractory properties are formed in the bulk of the material. Due to the exothermicity of the process, temperatures sufficient for the formation of mullite structures of the general formula xAl 2 O 3 · ySiO 2 develop, in the main of which are kyanite (Al 2 O 3 · SiO 2 ) and mullite (3Al 2 O 3 · 2SiO 2 ). In the presence of carbon in the charge, silicon carbide (SiC) is also formed. In the reaction system SiO 2 + Al + C, the following reactions are possible:
3SiO2+4Al+3С=2Al2O3+3SiC+Q3SiO 2 + 4Al + 3C = 2Al 2 O 3 + 3SiC + Q
5SiO2+4Al=2[Al2O3·SiO2]+3Si+Q.5SiO 2 + 4Al = 2 [Al 2 O 3 · SiO 2 ] + 3Si + Q.
3Si+2Al2O3=3SiO2+4Al+Q3Si + 2Al 2 O 3 = 3SiO 2 + 4Al + Q
Si+С=SiC+QSi + C = SiC + Q
13SiO2+12Al=2[3Al2O3·2SiO2]+13Si+Q13SiO 2 + 12Al = 2 [3Al 2 O 3 · 2SiO 2 ] + 13Si + Q
As a result of our experiments, it was found that the content of kyanite and mullite in the SHS reaction products depends on the conditions of the process and it can be controlled. Usually, during the SHS process, the heating of the sample is carried out only to the temperature of initiation of the SHS wave (not higher than 800-850 ° C), after which forced heating is stopped. We found that under this regimen mainly kyanite is formed (the mass ratio of kyanite: mullite is 5-6: 1). If the forced heating of the reacting system is continued further (to a temperature of 1200 ° C), then the mullite content increases. It should be noted that at high operating temperatures, kyanite in refractories also turns into mullite, which is accompanied by an increase in volume (specific density of kyanite is 3.66 g / cm 3 , for mullite it is much lower: 2.81 g / cm 3 ) and is unfavorable for materials with high density, as it can lead to cracking of the refractory. Since the proposed material is highly porous and such transformations during its operation cannot lead to the appearance of cracks, for reasons of economy, a regime was selected that led to the predominant formation of kyanite. In addition, kyanite in comparison with mullite is characterized by increased hardness.
1996).According to our x-ray phase analysis, the proposed material contains 12-20 wt.% Silicon carbide (SiC), 25-51% wt. Kyanite (Al 2 O 3 · SiO 2 ) and not more than 0.5-0.8% carbon that is, during SHS combustion, almost all of the schungite carbon goes into a bound state, namely, silicon carbide, which reduces thermal conductivity and completely eliminates the burning of carbon from the material during its operation at high temperatures in the presence of oxygen. (Refractories containing carbon in bonded form, for example, silicon carbide, belong to the class of non-combustible ones. See Strelov KK, Kashcheev ID Theoretical Foundations of Refractory Technology. - M .: Metallurgy, 1996).
В качестве порошка Al использовали алюминиевую пудру марки АСД-1 (эффективный размер частиц 91,5 мкм).Upon receipt of the claimed material, industrial liquid glass (ZhS) was used, corresponding to GOST 130078-81, with a density of 1.45 g / cm 3 , a basicity modulus of 2.8 (composition: SiO 2 29.6%, Na 2 O 10.6% , water - the rest). Crystalline silicon of the KP-00 grade (composition: Si-98.5 99%, Fe 0.3%, Al 0.2%, Ca 0.25%) was used as a blowing agent, which was crushed in a jet mill to a fineness of <100 μm . As an Al powder, aluminum powder of the ASD-1 brand was used (effective particle size 91.5 μm).
The proposed material is obtained as follows.
The crushed crystalline silicon is mixed with liquid glass and a dry ground (pre-mixed) mixture is added (dispersion of the mineral filler <100 μm, shungite - 100-250 μm), mixed thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous liquid-viscous mass of slip composition and poured into collapsible forms, perforated along the side surfaces. The molds also have a perforated restriction cover to prevent the foam mass from escaping out at high expansion ratios. After the process of foaming and evaporation of water is completed, the mold is disassembled and a sample is obtained in the form of a porous rigid structure while maintaining the configuration and dimensions specified by the mold, which is subjected to tests to determine physicomechanical characteristics. Control drying of the obtained samples in a heating cabinet for 1-2 hours at 120-150 ° C and subsequent tests showed that the samples did not change their properties.
Next, the samples are subjected to controlled heating (heating rate of 5-10 ° C per min) in special furnaces of the CHOL type in argon medium (to prevent carbon burnout) to the temperature of initiation of the SHS combustion wave of 660-850 ° C. (The temperature threshold for initiating the SHS reaction depends on the composition of the charge and decreases in the presence of metal oxides, such as TiO 2 , Fe 2 O 3 , etc., which are present in schungite). The temperature regime of heating and the SHS process is controlled using thermocouples, one of which (XA thermocouple) is placed near the sample, and the other (BP thermocouple) is embedded inside the sample to a depth of 5 mm. The moment of initiation of the SHS reaction is accompanied by the appearance of a temperature peak on the thermogram; for the proposed material, the maximum temperatures in the combustion wave are 1400-1700 ° С. After the exothermic synthesis is completed, the sample is cooled and subjected to tests, which showed that after firing by SHS technology, the compressive strength increases by 1.5-2 times (depending on the initial density of the material), and the upper temperature limit of application increases by 100-200 ° C.
The table shows examples of formulations of the claimed material and its characteristics before and after firing in SHS mode.
As can be seen from the table, recipe No. 1 does not provide the necessary self-heating of the mixture and the coefficient of expansion and, as a result, the material has insufficient porosity and higher values of density and thermal conductivity. Recipe No. 7, due to the high silicon content, leads to excessive porosity with a nodule structure (pore size reaches 10 mm), which leads to a sharp decrease in strength characteristics.
Analysis of the thermophysical and mechanical characteristics of the claimed material shows that in terms of these properties it significantly exceeds the known prototype material.
Thus, from the above data it is seen that the proposed material has a low density, high porosity, has low thermal conductivity and high mechanical characteristics and belongs to the class of non-combustible refractories.
